If you're referring to the reconfiguration of your 2nd and 3rd row of seats, then I think that was answered by GSTM9 (and you quoted on your last post),- P100K. Whew!

I am quoting it again here....

I can't confirm this, but I heard it will cost about P100K to have the seating arrangement reconfigured. That's because they will have to place recessed railings into the floor, among others (no easy task).

Ironic isn't it? A big van with not-so-usable/flexible space? Hhmmm...

Yes, it is very ironic. I posted a few weeks ago that the Toyota Super Grandia looks like better deal if one is the passenger most of the time - more room because the driver's row is pushed all the way to the front (of course, there are disadvantages....like safety compromised because of the minimal crumple zone).

What Hyundai should have done with the 12 seater Grand Starex is make its last row of seats split and fold type (like the old Starex and the Innova, Grandia, etc.) instead of the fold and slide. That way they will allow for more space with long items, balikbayan boxes, etc. Also, they should not have bolted the seat on the 2nd row, left side (in the 10 seater it can slide) - that means passengers entering to sit in the 3rd row will still have to pass by the right side since that is the only one that slides forward.

For now, the Grand Starex' most flexible seating option is the Gold variety and the high end 10 seater model - where both rear rows slide almost all the way to the middle of the van --- one can in fact, put in a sliding table between the rows or have kids dancing inside (not recommended while van is in motion )

this is the fastest local van right?
I haven't been to the NLEX or Star Tollway since my 1000km PMS. Before that, the Gen 4 TCi was able to run at 120+kph at 3,000rpm. In the Hyundai Auto Club forum, some members are able to run their CRDi Grand Starex at 180kph. I won't be surprised, since the CRDi has 174hp. Even at 2,200kg curb weight, that translates into a power/weight ratio of 79hp per ton.

The TCi only has a power/weight ratio of about 46hp per ton. So I think it will max out at 160 (about 4000rpm).

I agree here as well. We have a Honda City CVT and its seating configuration is more flexible that I use it instead of the Grand Starex to transport a concrete fishpond measuring 3ft wide x 4+ft long and 1ft deep (by folding down the rear seats). The fixed rear seats of the Grand Starex don't allow this to be placed at the rear cargo compartment. But I can still put the fishpond in....only thing is, I will have to fold back the second row seats and put the heavy concrete pond on top of the 2nd & 3rd seats (which could get wet or dirty as a result).

Kung titingnan sir ung sa international website ng hyundai, kaya ganun ung seating sa GS kse ung kinuha lang nila is ung van version with the sticking up antena, ung 3 or 5 seater lang(similar to starex pro) ung pang business ba, so ung seats sa unang labas lahat eh naka fixed

parang starex pro na nilagyan ng upuan

Sorry for the confusion, I saw what was posted, but it was clearly indicated that price is unconfirmed. So what I meant is somebody that has confirmed price.

I was given a quote of 50K+ just to replace the 2 second row seats to swivel. (non sliding). so I'm somewhat skeptical that replace 4 seats and put down rails would be 100k only.

No problem bro...

I'm thinking one of 2 things. either:

    1. Slippery Ramp (reason for ribs, plus it was raining)
    2. Lousy Korean Tires.

I'm thinking shouldn't be lack of power (CRDI) as on straights it feels like i'm driving a sports car.

I remembered this thread as I was going up the spiral ramp of my building's (RCBC Plaza) parking. It was dry, but the ramp had those ribbed inclines so when I felt I wanted more speed going up to test whether the casa's repair had eliminated my complaint, I felt the rear tires slip.

Interesting. It's really that torquey! I tried it again. Same slip. Astig!
*Disclaimer: No one was on the ramp before and after me, and the slip was just momentary. Van was not unsettled.

I'm a bit confused as to how a 12 seater would be converted by changing the 2nd row seats into swivel. The reason against this is that since the 2nd row left seat and 3rd row seats are fixed, there is little flexibility and legroom and it will still end up cramped (between 2nd row facing backwards and 3rd row facing forwards).

What I think is possible is the 10 seater where the second row will be slid forward and swiveled (since all 2nd row seats can be moved forward). Thus the conversion will be for the seats to swivel only and there is no need to add a recessed sliding rail on the floor.

With the 12 seater, that will entail completely changing the 2nd row left seat (which is fixed), and adding a recessed sliding rail. Add this to the swivel change of the other 2 seats on the right side, then P50K seems a little too low for a major change like this.

So far, I haven't heard of any Gold variants coming into HARI dealers yet. Of course, in the gray market, there is the HVX variant (essentially a Gold but possibly with a few more additional features)...without the 5 year warranty, of course.

Look at the second and third rows and you'll see how limited the legroom is once the seats are swiveled. You might want to think twice about having the seats converted

The way the girl described it to me, they don't change the left seat to sliding. swivel lang talaga. so that is why I balked and said na crazy yun if can't slide. useless to swivel it around if no leg space after you swivel.

i think idealy after you swivel it around, you would tilt the back of the 2nd row (to an acute angle) and not use the seat. thereby increasing the leg room of the 3rd row slightly.

Bro.,- I do not exactly get what you're trying to say here.... Kindly elaborate....

And, by the way, thanks for reminding me that I am poor,- have to work harder if I am keen on getting a Gen4.... Else, I'll just keep my faithful Gen3....

Do you want this 4th gen Starex to be the "Van of the Year" once more? O_o

  20. #980
Wala na, di na ko makakabili ng Gen4 starex this year. Nakabili na ko ng new mags at tires sa Gen3 ko, so sayang na kung ibebenta pa! Hopefully next year!
