    no offense sir but Stavic sa front view ok, sa side hhhmmmmmm .... ah un nga lang MB ang engine nya, but pass siguro dito

    carnival, hhhmmmm im woried kasi dun sa automatic doors nya bka masira agad, and lalo na ung mga passenger na di sanay sa automatic door, baka piliting buksan or sarahan..... but will try to consider also.

    been to the grey market also and seen the Grand Starex HVX, ung beige interior lang medyo problema, but the dual sun roof is great (dont know whats the cons of having the sun roof, all i know is ok to sa mga pulitiko pag campaign period) they priced it at 1.63M

    Consideration:
    * CRDI Engine
    * Seating Capacity
    * (to be used once or twice a month for long drive Bicol>Manila>Bicol 8-9 hours driving one way[450 kms])->>>Can handle 1 hour of tough road in Quirino/Andaya Highway
    * Everyday Vehicle (ave. 70kms per day) Asphalt Road
    * Always in a hurry
    * ung sulit sa babayaran mo syempre

    hope you can help

    peace out

    no offense to the stavic folks, it may be a good vehicle inside, with an MB engine, but i really just don't like the way it looks.

    you do have a point with the automatic doors. but i wonder, don't these have a manual override function? (meaning you can open and close them manually?) not sure, haven't checked on this feature tho.

    as to the sunroof, it's a nifty feature, but in the sweltering noon day sun, i'd rather not have it as an option, or i'd have it tinted, at the very least. source of heat pa kasi yan.

    I'm not sure what the fuel consumption is on the CRDi engines with VGT. The Gen 3's CRDi engine is not thrifty. My consumption fluctuates between 5 and 8 Km/L, with 8 being lucky

    As I've complained before, it seems the smaller Gen 3 is more spacious when compared to the Gen 4, although the Gen 4 should comfortably fit average Asians.

    It should be a joy to drive on long straights. I don't know how its suspension will hold up during those rough road drives. Had a little problem with our Gen 3 stabilizer links, and we drive it mostly on asphalt.

    Hate to be a sour grape, but the high ticket price to the Gen 4 CRDi still hasn't gotten me sold on it. Wadya know, I'm still a bonafide member of EFG4HSOC. Hahaha!

    ako rin bonafide member ng EFG4HSOC. i'm happy with my 2 month old Vios... pero i think my dad is seriously considering the Grand Starex as our family vehicle, masyado na raw magastos si expy kapag binabyahe.. hehe.. OT: my mom also wants to trade-in the fort with a bnew 4x4 fort... same color as our current fortuner

    Well, compared nga naman to the Expy, mas matipid ang CRDi ng Hyundai. The 5Km/L I mentioned, sobrang traffic at sobrang bigat ng paa ko. I was lucky then to get 5 Km/L on my 4.6L Expy, and I was driving very conservatively then. If the Gen 3's CRDi is any indication of the way the Gen 4 goes, power delivery is great. 160-170 kph, and you'll still be asking for more road.

    Fort fan pala Mom mo ;) Mukhang aakyat ng bundok ah.

    From the sound of it, malaki laki na ang membership ng EFG4HSOC. From the sound of it, there's an SF, a Carnival, a Stavic (while wearing a mask -- hehe. ako yun.), and a Vios so far.

    Can't believe there're no Innovas here?!?

    Also, I found a great use for moonroofs. Lahat so far ng alam ko na may standard moon roof ay medyo malakas sa gas. Kaya yata siya nilalagyan ng moon roof ay para puwede ka magpatay ng makina sa malilim na paradahan and still enjoy the great outdoors! hahaha.

    On Fuel Consumption i think i can live with that, having 8km/L city and 10km/L highway on our diesel adventure and a whopping 5km/L city and 8km/L highway on our 92 galant

    you have a point sir on the sunroof/moonroof, but i dont know with me i just have the itch to have as many features in the car, even if im not goin to use it, at least i know it's there and i can have some use on it as the need arise, heheheh

    or maybe we can just get two small cars . . .

    well let's just wait and see

    pup2,

    you can chalk up my dad as buying 2 Innovas instead of the Gen 4 ;) hahaha! when we were shopping for a replacement for his Gen 1 11 seater, we looked at the Innova, Tucson and Gen 4. He wasn't happy with the large-ish dash of the Tucson, and the Gen 4 was just too hefty and expensive for its package. The Innova made better sense. He enjoyed it so much, he got two Hahaha!

    Hehehe! Well, it depends on your need. If you need the loading capacity and/or seating capacity in one ride, then the Gen 4 is probably your bet. Otherwise, you might also want to explore the 2 car option ;)

    It's ironic, though, that the Gen 3 CRDI's consumption is bad, while the small car's consumption (Getz, Accent, Matrix) is great. I hope the Gen 4's corrected this.

    Would this count as 2 marks for my argument that Innova would be the choice over the others as the option vs. the Starex Gen4?....

    ^^^ It is not bro.

    However, when you review this thread for earlier posts, pup2 and myself have this personal theories/predictions that:

    1. Pricing the Starex Gen4 in the same range as the Toyota Hi Ace is a marketing strategy by Hyundai so that people would instead look towards buying a Carnival,-This is pup2's

    2. Mine was,- people looking for Gen4 and disenchanted by its pricing scheme, would instead go for the Toyota Innova... This is the reason why I am asking if I can have 2 marks since ImM29's Dad bought a couple of Innovas....

    Tumatanda na yata talaga ako. I hadn't thought of that til now! I was just talking about parking under a shady tree, putting shades on and opening the moon roof while watching DVD on my portable player!
    Di ko kasi ma imagine misis ko na nakaupo lang dun ng hindi naka AC eh. heeheehee. But what a great suggestion!

    Daya. Dapat 1 lang per user. Besides, baka madalang mag-drive yung dad niya at di pa alam na lahat na yata ng tao may Innova. Tsaka 2 Base Innovas=1 Tricked out HARI Starex.

    Hehehe! Actually, it's really up to you guys how to count your stats. Hehehe! But as for my Dad, he's out driving every day of the week. He got his Innovas not because of his ignorance that there are a lot on the road, but because for the price and function, it was a better decision.

    It's actually 1 J Innova and 1 G Innova. And yes, both of them amount to 1 Tricked out HARI Starex. Wala ka nga lang pang-coding sa Starex. Hehehe!

    Had a problem last night.

    Going up Shangri-La Mall Parking (the curved ramp with small humps)

    Had problem with traction and the wheel kept spinning. There was a little smoke (burning tires?) so i backed up and did running climb to get up there.

    I'm thinking one of 2 things. either:

    1. Slippery Ramp (reason for ribs, plus it was raining)
    2. Lousy Korean Tires.

    I'm thinking shouldn't be lack of power (CRDI) as on straights it feels like i'm driving a sports car.

    No, it's not the lack of power. If anything, it might even be the abundance of power and torque. Hehehe!

    But then, that parking ramp has been difficult for car, SUV and van especially when it's wet. I'm not a fan of the Korean OEM tires. Still a bit afraid of our previous experience a few years back. Perhaps Korean rubber has already improved, but right now, I'm not experimenting with it.

    i also experienced that with our starex GRX 2007.. mahirap tlga umakyat kasi may mga humps tapos konti lang ung bwelo.. buti nalang hindi tumutok yung kasunod ko na car.. kaya ang ginawa nung guard is he told me to go back down and allowed me to pass to the left side where there is no humps..

    kaya everytime i go there i make sure to turn-off the a/c and do a fast climb para hindi ako mabitin..

    I agree that the difficulty in climbing was probably due to an over-abundance of torque. I experienced the same thing with our 2006 Starex while trying to go up a steep parking building ramp after a bit of rain.

    I was already using Michelin Vanpix tires, but I noticed that I was losing traction so I had to ease up on the accelerator and take the incline very sloooowly. it's a good thing there were no vehicles behind me as well.
