Yup, the belt, too. But in this case, doc, it's replacement of the tensioner. There is no manual adjustment for the serpentine belt tension, spring loaded assembly na siya. Non-repairable, too. Oem part was p1500 a pop in banawe way back in 2010 when i had to change one on my then grx. It is still the same part number afaik. Actually it is interchangeable with the tensioner on a santa fe engine.

Pag kumalampag yung tensioner then nadamay na lang siya. It will be some other bearing that has low/lost lubrication and the tensioner is just reacting to the added tension. Pag yan nangyari almost all bearings the serpentine belt passes need to be changed.

Slightly OT. i know timing chains eventually stretch and chain guides can become brittle and break. kaso if timing belt are to be replaced anywhere between 80t and 150t kms (toyota ata recommend nito). roughly ilang dapat kilometrahe palit ng timing chain? kasi kun 100t kms lang parang wala syang advantage sa timing belt maingay pa at mas mahal palitan? thanks

Although the ps pump is always the prime suspect (low ps fluid causes this noise) any bearing outside can cause a whining sound. So anything that the serpentine belt passes like the alternator, water pump, ac compressor and serpentine belt lunch tensioner must be checked. Try to pinpoint the source using a pvc pipe. With one end close to your ear point the pipe as close to any suspect part (pump, bearing) and if the sound is loudest then that is your prime suspect.

Was thinking of buying an automotive stethoscope for this. Hehehe.. 250 lang naman sa lazada and magagamit ko din sa ibang kotse namin. Sakto due for PM next week imention ko na lang sa SA.

we have never replaced our timing chains.

according to google, timing chains are expected to last a very long time. some even say it lasts the life of the car or engine.
timing chains daw, are replaced when they show engine issues that are traceable to signs of timing chain wear.

however,
in my old sentra, the chain did not break, but the sprocket nut loosened, stranding me. the mechanic simply nutted it back on.
but it cost me several thousand bucks... for the towtruck.
sigh...

Ah, now you made me miss my grx! The grx never had this problem because of its linoleum floor. Mop lang ang katapat.

LSD ba ang Grand Starex? Managed to spin the rear wheels on a steep angled slope kanina. Sandali lang dumulas pero after a while kumapit naman...

HVX model sir may LD or LSD ,, diko alam CVX, ilang ulit ko na naramdaman na gumagana siya, kaya nakaka ahon ang van, ang VDC or ESP ang alam ko sa brake system , gumagana siya pag mag skid ang gulong kaya meron mag brake na tire at meron tuloy lang sa ikot para maiwasan ang pag slide, at mabalik ng driver ang control sa vehicle,kung tama ang natatandaan ko,

Just here to share that now I'm a believer. Na ooblong pala talaga stock nexen tires. 34mos old 24T km. Balanced already but oblong cannot be cured by balancing pala. Irritating feeling.

In my almost 15 years of starex experience, i never had to use Nexen tyres.... Only Kumho, Hankook and Michelin... No bad experience in any of them...

Ano kaya problema ng Grand Starex ko,
Walang problema sa shifting pero yung paahon kanina sa starbucks sa Tagaytay kaya naman pero i tried it via sportronic na 1st gear lang pero kahit anong apak ko sa accelerator it won't reach 2000 rpm. What could be a problem [emoji848]

Kumho in my tucson bumukol less than 3 years, hankook in my older g starex 3 years bago bumukol and lately yung nexen sa 2016 g starex ko bumukol nadin. All these korean tires will not last more than 3 years. Shifted to trazanno for my tucson, dunlop for my older starex and gt for my 2016 starex. Dunlop madulas sa wet road, maingay. For the trazanno znd gt too early to comment.

brought the van today to Hyundai Pasig for its 35t km checkup. Told the SA about the whining noise i hear everytime i start the van in the morning. Idler Bearings & Tensioner daw which is not covered by warranty. Was a bit dissapointed na hindi pala covered ng warranty ito.

Sad to hear that. Napatingin tuloy ako sa service booklet ko, but I can't find those parts in the "not-covered list" since hindi naman siya maintenance services and parts like the belt itself. If you replace the belt and adjust the tensioner at ganuon pa din, maybe you can try another bigger casa for the warranty. Or email HARI for clarification. Kung false promises yung written in the service booklet, maybe DTI should also know.

Not all wear and tear items are in the exclusions list. Shock absorbers, struts, stab links, ball joints, tie rods, racks ends, pipes, hoses, clips and mountings are under warranty. I was able to claim for one of my cars. Hoping those are also included.
