What I don't get is why there are no paddle shifters on the turbo (or even a manual mode). Come on. Even their odyssey has paddle shifters. The Jazz and city have paddle shifters. The gigantic pilot has paddle shifters.

Why doesn't the turbo (which is supposed to be fun to drive) have any sort of manu-matic mode? I saw videos all over the Internet of the interior of this car. It's really glaring that it misses this feature.

Does our version have paddle shifters?

Never mind. I stand corrected. The Thai version has paddle shifters so I'm guessing the Philippine version will have this. Time to sell my Jazz.

Its a niche market now. They cant afford displaying a whole range, when they can only sell a few dozen. I think they will only sell less than a hundred of turbos annually.

Since the Civic Turbo has the Focus Ecoboost as its primary competitor, will the 120k difference be worth it? Most tests do say that the Civic Turbo is a second quicker to 100 kmh than the Focus Ecoboost even though its power and torque is less than the Focus Ecoboost. Honda also managed to keep the new Civic Turbo to be around the same weight as the previous gen 2.0L FB at around 1300kg.

The Mazda3 2.0R may not have the power output of those turbo compacts but it is cheaper at around 1.2M and very much capable for a sporty compact.

The ford ecoboost cannot touch the fc of the civic in traffic. For a daily driver and worsening traffic, the civic turbo is a better choice imo. And its bigger too.

Let's see how Honda will get a market share for this one. The price is already within the range of most entry level CUV's, PPV's, and some midsize (with discounts). It is a good car, the start of the new trend of capable small turbo cars from Honda.

I got to read from PaulTan.org that Honda will be introducing a 1.0L 3-cylinder turbo engine for its Euro Civic in 2017. This small turbo engine will eventually replace the current 1.8L engines (R18) used in Civic models. As per the output figures (127 hp and 200 Nm), it has 10% less power than the R18 but offers 15% more torque.

Yup, the Civics, Mazda 3's , Altis , ELantra, Focus and the like have become Niche vehicles....You can almost see the token attention the dealers are now giving them, go to a Ford showroom and you'd swear the sales reps are acting as if the Focus has the Zika virus or something. The bread and butter models are now the City, Mirage, Fiesta and king of the hill...the mighty VIOS. Once niche vehicles such as the compact SUV's / Cross overs are also getting good rep.

I'm betting the Mobilio would even outsell the Civic...and why not? Its cheap and seat's 7. Too bad... it's just too expensive, at 1.1M and 1.4M, how can I justify the purchase, that's SUV money right there. The heydays for the Civic has passed unfortunately and I was lucky to enjoy my FD for 4 years..... dang, I miss my FD.

But dont get me wrong, Honda needs the Civic, it's their "people"s halo car and it needs to be cool, sporty and produce the right vibe, a good seller or not, the Civic needs to look great because it's what defines Honda...well at least here in the PH.

i saw the new civic na rin few weeks back at MOA..
since middle of last year.. i have been constantly monitoring this car in the net.. with real intentions of buying it when it comes out here in our market..
however, i do see issues and problems with this car being a totally new design and technology..
here is the website of civicx.com..... many things to learn from.
