Here is a video of my college batchmate's accident involving these barriers which was posted in James Deakin's account.
When I initially watched it I have no idea na friend ko pala ang nabiktima, not until he posted it in our college batch GC.

    https://fb.watch/bcGKGgClr0/

    As per his account:

    Had a road accident yesterday..
Bus speeding too fast.. the concrete barrier fell in front of me... no time to stop....
suffered two dented rims and two ruptured wheels...
i hope there is no damage to the underchassis... both me and my wife are safe...
    thank you Lord 🙏

Yeah after watching all these barrier videos I tend to keep right on EDSA. Lots of people still don't use the two rightmost lanes out of habit so they're usually open.

Just have to be aware when to merge left if I want to take the underpasses.

PAF daw sila. Nakaligtas driver patay 3 kasama. Galing party, naka inom driver. Pagewang gewang daw sabi ng GMA News. Just think kung yang pagewang gewang eh sa ibang sasakyan bumangga. Although MMDA are thinking of replacing the barrier.

    the way i see it,
    "they complement each other."

    what i do not see,
is why they had to re-position the bus to the leftmost lane.

Ang tatapang or ang tatanga. No license, no registration, and no plates - kapal ng mga mukha. Tapos humihingi ng pag-uunawa. Gaguhan na yan eh!

They tried using plastic barrier during the covered yellow/bus lane several years ago. Didn't work, the Buses would still side swipe the plastic barrier and there are even videos of several barrier being misaligned and damaged constantly because the bus drivers would hit it trying to change lanes or speeding.
Using Bollards was also tried before and was told that the buses would normally hit them and damage them constantly plus putting chains with the bollards and not highly illuminated them might produce more accident.

The plastic barriers are supposed to be filled with water to make it heavy but still break upon very strong impact.

If used properly pwede naman ipalit sa concrete.

the authorities still do not get it.
it is always a bad idea, to put barriers of any sort, in the middle of a major and very busy street.
    recent history... palaging may na-ba-bangga.

double yellow lane is probably the way to go.
nevair mind that it is violated on a regular basis. at least, it works as intended for a significant part of the time.
mahirap banggain ang double yellow lines.

    my view.

From what I've heard, talagang sinasadya nila banggain nga daw.
Wala naman sila paki if ma-damage yung bus nila.

Any public utility vehicle, and government service vehicle quickly turns to rolling junk in this country.

It may seem harsh, but dapat may consequences din sa kanila if they do so- like suspension from work/license for a month or so, na progressing to total revocation for repeated offenses. Pag government service vehicle, may accountable officer din who gets imposed heavy fines if may damage (hey, it's public property paid by our taxes right?). Tignan natin pag di umayos yung mga yan.
