Ford Everest [Merged]

The Everest is not the same Ford as the Expedition. Its powered by a very good diesel engine (common rail) and gets respectable fuel economy for a car its size. Those guzzlers like the Expedition are powered by monster V8 gasoline engines. Gas engines + Fat body = GAS GUZZLER!

hi guys! am a newbie here... am about to replace my car (an xuv) & am down to 2:
1. the eve (4X2 AT) because of it being roomy, (with a 3rd row that)

* a lot higher than the tribute but am willing to shell out more if i get more convinced with its performance, esp on the fuel consumption. am really doubtful about a ford, having that image that it gulps fuel as if there's no fuel crisis!
2. mazda tribute because of the price, not bad for an suv (captiva, rav 4 which look a lot like the tribute are both more than 1M-- mazda mkti is giving it to me at 949K++ with company fleet discount).
the sales rep said that fc is 8-10km city driving... wud have to research more though from other tribe owners

as Mazda is also owned by FORD, the Tribute shared similar platform with Ford Escape but is more feminine than the Everest which is fitted with a powerful diesel engine...

Color Blue yeah good color din yan... imho if you have a growing family or family extension pa, Everest is reasonable for the money... and servicewise sa Ford convenient magpaservice pwede pa nga most of the time walk-in, di tulad sa iba, haba ng pila... anyway have you considered the Santa Fe? pwede ring pang flood siya mas mahal nga lang (4x2 is almost 4x4 na ng Eve),

The reality with Everest (2.5 diesel) is that it consumes an average of 7-8km/L (city driving). If you look at it, it is better (fuel consumption) than Pajero 2.8 diesel engine. Worse than Fortuner and Santafe. They say that Fortuner averages at 10km/L while SantaFe is at 12km/L. Of course one would argue that they different displacement but power is pretty much the same.

fyi yes mazda is owned by ford and if you're disappointed with ford's fuel consumption, then so in mazda the tribute is just the same with the ford escape just with different grill and dashboard (its has piano black dashboard). what's your considerations po? if you have a family then everest it is. its spacious powerfull ang fuel efficient. but you might want to consider the all new montero sport?

Sorry guys, just wanted to update na I have decided to get a Hyundai Santa Fe instead of a Everest, pero I will be test driving both next Saturday but it will be hard I think to convince me to switch my decision.

SIR Tidus congratulations sa choice mo. If money is not an issue HYUNDAI Santa Fe wins hands down. FORD Everest is for rugged type use - better for big family, bigger space for do-it-yourself enthusiasts and at the same time gives economy. Btw, the additional two hundred thousand pesos plus can be used to fuel the owner for the next 2 years!

Thanks for the inputs, JJ... Yup, i have kids so i want a big car (my current is an xuv). also want an anti-baha (!) one during rainy days. we have an alterra which we use when we're with the kids so if the eve is not so impressive, ok lang din to switch to a smaller car...pang office.
The price of the eve is tempting, its a good buy at this size & caliber.
I just want to be convinced that its worth it. coz if not, i'll just get the
tribute which is also another good buy at its price (less than 1M). Even escape has a promo too, almost same price as tribute. ur right, they are more or less the same.

I changed all my shocks, front and rear. For the front, it's Procomp ES1000, and for the rear, it's Procomp MX6 adjustables. I'm in #2 setting at the rear (2nd softest). All I can say is that the ride comfort might even beat my strada, and there's little change in body roll during cornering.

Overall cost, 17k... not bad at all

Mine is the gen2 3.0 4x4. I haven't tried riding on the third row yet, but my 7yo daughter always likes to sit there unlike before. 2nd row comfort has definitely improved.

Changing just the rear shocks is already sufficient to improve the ride. The MX6 adjustables cost 6,100 php ea. I changed the front shocks a few months after changing the rear, and there was additional improvement as well. The ES1000 costs 2,500 php ea.

Nagbago ba ang height nung Eve after the shocks upgrade? Sakto lang ba yung procomp dun sa stock shocks ng Eve?

If you were to quantify the improvement in ride and handling, can you say mga 50% ang ginanda?

Mrs. Schu, ang real consumption ng trib ay 6 to 7 km/l. magastos talaga yan sa gas. its design is based sa old escape, which has been around for quite some time now. its color is black and white lang din, maganda pa nga ang Eve, may silver (other colors pa pag 4x4) :D trib was on my list din dati because of its price, plus I like the two tone touring. like you, ayaw ko lang din ng fuel consumption nya. mas pipiliin ko pa si Eve dahil kahit mga 8 km/l lang sha (only slighly better sa trib), pero mas malakas ang hatak ng Eve, at 7 seater na sha. diesel is also a lot cheaper now than gas, unlike dati, less than P2 lang diperensya.

sobrang haba lang ng Eve, esp the hood, but since you were driving an XUV, you'd have no problems adjusting. get the Eve ICE for your kids, solid!

So between trib and Eve, Eve ako hands down. Pero in the end, I decided to add a little more sa budget and will be getting the Montero Sport. Ok din si Sta. Fe if you have more money, pero its a car. Montero, Fort, Eve and Alterra ay trucks, so dont expect a car-like ride on them like Sta. Fe or trib.

sa city driving, mga 8 kml lang din ang diesel Fort. Yung gas Fort? forget it, 5 to 6 kml lang, even the dealer says so, super bagal pa. Sta Fe can get 12 kml pero ayon sa owners, around 9 to 10 lang din on city. I guess it really depends on your driving habits.

sa shocks ng Eve, they say this procomp adjustable is really good. visit fordclubph.com for details. Andun ang mga owners na may ganito na. they get it sa banawe.

I'm thinking to get a 2nd hand Gen1 same effect lang kaya? Nag test drive ako ng Everest Gen1 and Gen2 3rd row ako sumasakay and it is really bumpy with stock shocks.

*stoker_200, One way of checking if you don't need to change you leaf spring is first remove your shocks and then test drive your Everest with out shocks. If the ride improves or satisfy you then shocks is definitely the culprit of bumpy ride of Everest at rear seats.

There should be no change in ride height. Expect about 20-30% improvement only.

Fossil,

The shocks are available at Ride in Banawe. They'd install it for free, I think. It's bolt-on. Sakto yung sukat.

Larshell,

The gen 1 and gen2 have the same suspension set-up except for the longer rear leaf springs and rear stabilizer bar in the gen2. I would expect almost the same improvement for the gen1. For the rear, you can adjust the shocks the way you want. I had mine adjusted at #2, although #3 is just fine. For the gen1, maybe #1 (softest) or #2 is the best.

There's no procomp adjustables for the front.

BTW, another good brand is Rancho, and they have adjustables as well.
