Share ko lang near-miss experience ko yesterday (09-02-2012) while driving along Bataan Expressway going to Manila, I was running around 80-100km per hour on a straight highway along Pablo Roman Highway in Hermosa, Bataan, it was around 7pm-8pm, it was dark but it's a straight highway, what could go wrong I'm in full control of my Eve, when I suddenly noticed a DPWH Drum in front of my lane without any reflector, i was just few meters away around 10-15 meters or less from hitting the object. I desperately steer away and stepped on the brakes in full simultaneously, I lost control of the steering as my Ford Everest drifted from the slippery asphalt., my foot was still on the brakes while my Eve is drifting rear first on the opposite lane desperately trying to control the steering wheel. My Eve went to a full stop on the opposite side of the lane's on shoulder, my Eve facing away from Manila direction, something similar to a stunt they do on TV. We were all so nervous.
When we head back to our direction going to Manila I saw 4 other cars on the same lane that I landed in first was an Innova I can't remember what else followed, they were all in full stop and in awe I think, I believe they saw my car from far while I was loosing control as if anticipating a tragic accident to happen. Thank God nothing bad happened to us, thank God my Eve's tire did not blew up while drifting, thank God there were no potholes that could have trigger our Eve to rollover, thank God no other fast car was on the opposite lane while the incident was happening, thank God the other cars on the opposite lane stopped early enough for us not to hit them when we landed, Thank God we stopped just in time not to hit the trees on the shoulder, thank God we were spared from tragedy, Thank God we are still alive.
I don't know if I handled it properly but I guess we're just lucky everything else was on there proper places while the incident was happening. I should have gone back to check on that drum and took a picture but was just too nervous to even go back we just headed to our direction and stopped a a lit gas station to check if there were any damages to the Eve which could compromise our still far travel to Manila. I also stopped at a checkpoint to inform Policemen stopping motorcycles about the hazard in the highway and our near-miss incident, but only to be answered back "Sa DPWH yan Sir, sa kanila dapat yan i-report." Still nervous we headed to SM Pampanga and stopped there for a few minutes to calm down.
Today I also phoned Office of the Mayor in Hermosa, to inform them again of the hazard in the highway within their jurisdiction I was again transferred to a Municipal Police station, which was answered by certain Sargent Macalintan, I told them about the incident but same answer "Sir sa DPWH yan, dapat sila ang tawagan nyo, di po kasi namin trabaho yan.". I just told them it wasn't my job either but as a concerned citizen I wanted to inform them so that they could do something to avoid any motorist from experiencing the same in that area by doing something about the road hazard. I requested them to just drive by in that highway so they can see, I was just told they will do something and inform DPWH. I just hope they do before anyone else gets an accident. I also hope that DPWH be more responsible in putting reflectorized road barriers or early warning in their road repairs.
Anyway was at fault too by driving a bit fast in the area though I was fairly within the speed limit considering it was an expressway and a straight path and traveled that same highway many times back and forth. But yes, lesson learned and want to share it with you guys. Be extra careful when driving don't drive fast at night.
We're from Orion and we take that road often. Thanks for sharing!
In my case, ignorance is bliss! Kasi I can't seem to memorise that road. Ewan ko kung bakit. Kaya I hardly hit 60kph. Tsaka ang pangit ng daan! Parang tuwing eleksiyon lang inaayos.
guys, sino meron copy ng owner's manual ng Gen1 Everest?
I already tried google kaso for sale ad lagi lumalabas.
Those people whom you informed should have acted immediately on that matter. That was accident waiting to happen. (bad attitude and mindset shall I say) tsk tsk tsk![]()
sa gen 1 kasi (which i own) meron po naka specify sa technical manual, i also have the factory manual with diagrams... nothing to worry unless na super delayed na ang galaw ng steering...
Did another mod for the eve, hood insulation... both heat and sound insulation on the hood...
wala kasi insulation yung gen1 sa hood.
I used a Elastomeric Nitrile rubber sheet.
properties are cold/heat proof, sound barrier, does not shrink, does not absorb water...
para mas madali i removed the whole hood...
clean it up and degrease it... para kapitan ng 3M double sided adhesive tape
1/4 thickness nung rubber sheet
Ito naman for custom sound insulation on gen 1 eve
http://tsikot.com/forums/car-audio-v...project-89913/
" i tried to burn a piece of it by deliberately putting it into an open flame, it didn't catch fire nor did it melt...!" napabilib nga ako eh... i didn't know it was that good...
i touched the hood after driving, walang kainit-init... ang gandang insulation, even better than OEM's na mas mahal...

sa mga gurus here's !! mine 2009 everest,, problem around early 2011 nasira yun actuator/ yun switch pang open ng gas tank ( sa gas tank mismo not the switch inside the cabin ) ,, luckily for me under warranty,, but just last week ( warranty expired aug. 8 2012) nasira nanaman. I presume or i might say i therefore conclude that its a factory defect. I call ford and the said parts will cost me P16,000. any DIY repair??? Anyone experienced it?? TIA!!
