Comments on Ford Escape!??

I really like the escape because interior space is abundant and the trademark "XL" size center console storage bins of Ford... what I don't like? The steering mounted shift lever(the design make it feel old - imo) although this is handy since it frees up more space.

Ford is really giving good promos lately. The Escape and Everest are certainly worth looking into because of the pricing advantage over their competitors. Personally, I'd go for the Escape. While the look is getting a bit old, it doesn't look like Ford will make any major exterior styling changes in the near future. What I don't like about the Everest is that the seats are too low to the floor so you feel like you are crouching rather than sitting and the rear cargo area is too high making it a little difficult to hoist heavy stuff onto the back. To me, its really more of a pick-up than an SUV.

Escape is a nice SUV. The ride is better than 2nd gen CRV. The looks is nice. I have no bad comments on this vehicle except the resell price is low. just likes expedition & explorer sportrac.

There's one on display at SM City North EDSA now. Red color. XLS 4x2 2.3L They didn't change the radio pa din. same single in-dash.

My sister bought her escape M/T last year and just a few months after we encountered problems on the clutch. (not that my sister is a clutch driver). It felt like that the clutch plate was slipping so it was quite difficult on the first gear and reverse. We returned the car just in time for the warranty and everything was replaced. Kaso nga lang after one day from the CASA, we heard a loud noise at the bottom and we couldn't remove it from first gear. Pero ngayon ok na.

mayroon talagang problem ung manual transmission ng escape..

kaya nila tinaggal ung m/t and puro automatic na lang ang for sale.

pati sa 4x4 m/t may problem din..

buti na lang pinagpilitan ko noon na kumuha ng automatic.

I drove one and liked it pero i think medyo under powered nga because of the body. Parang ang bigat ng feeling ko while driving it. Overall, this is a nice ride. Yun nga lang, I heard from my friends na gulper ang Escapes and CRVs. Considering today's oil prices, I will veer away from 2.0's. Ideal talaga ngayon ang diesel at very reliable talaga. I'd rather look for a good pre-owned Pajero or other diesel rides that will fit my budget. But that's just me ...

naku...problematic ba talaga ang manual ng escape?
pero overall maganda naman ang ride and para sa akin hindi naman gulper yun nga lang agree ako na yung 4x2 parang mahina ang hatak niya for the size it carries.

nangyari na din sa escape ng aming kapitbahay nung nilagyan ng velocity pumalya yung makina.
stick to regular unleaded lang daw.

Caltex Gold and Shell Premium - 93 octane <-- bagal

Velocity and XCS - 95 octane <--- dito ako

Blaze - ??? di ko alam

sa manual ng car may nakalagay na kung ano octane level required... so much better yata yung default sa manual.. saking kasi premium gasoling only 93, 95+ octane rating

parehas lang ang konsumo.. ang napansin ko lang masmaganda ang performance ng 93 RON.

masmaganda ang hatak at masmaganda ang sunog. at hindi bumabagsak ang idling.

I will be getting my Black Ford Escape Tomorrow, and would like to ask some questions as I do not see a similar thread about this, and fordclub is temporarily down.....

Here are some of my questions:

1. What gasoline do you use? Brand and Type? Why?
2. Where to buy OEM Accessories except sa CASA? I want the Stepboard, Window Visor (Out of Stock kasi sa Ford ALabang)
3. Are there Ford Specialty Aftermarket Store? Where?
4. What type oF HID good for Escape? And How much na ba ngayon ito? Yung tamang lakas lang, I think ang headlight ng Escape ay projector type na..
5. Anong magandang ipalit na HU, I think 1 3/4 yata ito? meron bang ganun na HU available? or pagawa na lang ng case? saan?
6. Ano mileage nyo?

I think i already replied to you in FCP. Also a friend of mine is selling projector lamps at 24,000 original from the USA. His name is King and just tell him Bong referred ou to him. I already posted the number in FCP. Also, I am using an 05 2.3 which I also bought from Alabang. Very happy as it is my second Escape. First was a 2.0 but power wasnt there and it consumes more gas.Got a 2.3 2 days after I sold my 2.0. Isnt that being too happy with an Escape Btw I am using Petron Extra Unleaded since Day 1 and I am pushing 7-8 to a liter and 10-11 at the highway. Hope this helps.

Thanks for the reply. Yes, I remembered your reply on fcp. Regarding the headlight, mine is already projector type.. I might just need to replace it with HID....

I used Petron XCS, nasanay kasi ako, eto gamit ko sa jazz.

The Escape sits low enough on the ground not to need stepboards. The only thing the stepboards do is dirty my pant legs when I'm stepping out. Even Car&Driver magazine had the same complaint.

Besides, having no stepboards makes the Escape look meaner and higher off the ground.

Unless of course you just need the stepboards as a styling element. It's your call, that was just a suggestion.
