Any comment on Nippon Max filter? Anybody using it especially the oil filter?
Nippon Max Auto Parts, Filters
I have posted about them much earlier in this thread, They are well built but pretty low on the performance, They are 98% efficiency rating at 40 microns which is not really that great but normal for OEM. Compare that to say most fleetguards that are 97.8% * 25u to 20u (microns) Baldwins are about bout the same.
They are by no means a premium filter, just good enough to meet factory standards, (which is designed to wear your engine so you will get a new car down the road) Heavy duty Fleet filters are designed to extend the life of your engine and reduce maintenance cost that's the biggest difference.
So on a diesel these filters are for really short oil change intervals and they will leave your oil pretty dang black because they don't do much for the smaller 20 micron and lower particles like soot and carbon.
Get a Baldwin BD28 if your looking to replace the filter on the Pajero or the Titangold equivalent, Have not seen any real fleetguard in that filter model yet.
Remember many over the counter filters like Bosch, Purolator, Wix are 99% to 98.7 percent efficient at 20u (microns) that's a big big difference in keeping your engine clean.

Purolator | Pure Oil Now. Pure Oil Later
The pure one is one of the best over the counter filters you can buy,
PureONE's ISO 4548-12
25 microns - 100%
20 microns - 99.9%
15 microns - 99.2%
10 microns - 92.8%
5 microns - 51.3%
I did not know they had them yet in the Philippines. They are very popular in the US. As far as filtering goes they do a better job than just about any filter on the market. I would not use one in a older non common rail diesel for sure, most diesel owners even here do not run them due to the short life due to the fact they hold far less grams of dirt and this can be a issue with soot packed 40 weight oil, but there filtering is crazy good.
For example PP1 is 99.9% efficient at 20 microns and holds 13 grams of material. The Bosch DP is also 99.9% efficient at 20 microns but holds a whopping 29 grams of material around the same as a Baldwin or Fleetguard of the same filter.
For a gas engine if you can get your hands on one, it's the hands down winner. But they are not recommended for extended oil change intervals. They are good for a easy 8000klm but your pushing it after that. Purolator says change at 4000 (that's just for marketing) Oil analysis shows they are good well beyond that.
Something like the Fortuner could get away with running the pureone but your still going to be stuck with doing 4000klm oil changes which gets expensive when you need 8 liters of oil.
Mga sir ask ko lang po kung original yung nabili kung oil at fuel filter sa volmax kasi ung oil filter hindi siya nakabalot sa plastic at fuel filter..
Hehe, got a little lost - I hope you can help me here. I was going to get some better quality oil filters shipped from the US (along with some other items I was already going to purchase). Based on the recommendations I'd read, I'd been planning on getting the Baldwin BT223 - this will be for a Toyota Yaris 2011 model, with the 1NZ-FE engine. However, I then read the recent post that the Bosch Distance Plus filters, and now I'm not sure which is better. So:
- Which is a better filter, the Baldwin BT223 or one of the Bosch Distance Plus filters?
- If the Bosch Distance Plus is better, which particular one do I get? The Bosch D3330 comes up when I do a cross-reference check on the BT223, while both the D3325 and the D3311 come up when I do a search using the Yaris. Is any one of the three better than the others?
- If I use the Bosch Distance Plus (paired with a fully-synthetic like say Royal Purple), would I be ok moving to 10,000 km oil-change intervals?
- Is there any other filter, aside from the Baldwin and Bosch Distance Plus, that I should consider getting?
Hope you can help me with this, thanks![]()
