Luma na yun.
In most filtration tests, K&N comes out at the top or near the top for aftermarket filters. It's still not as clean as a stock paper filter, but it flows so much better, it's worth the price.

Ang pagbalik ng comeback...
It comes out as second best among three filters tested (APEXI, K&N and SIMOTA). I dont remember the exact thread title but I remember reading it in the workshop section.
I'm using a cone filter my ride (not K&N) and have noticed improvements in acceleration, torque and fuel efficiency. The gains are noticeable (along with the increased engine noise) in city driving but are best appreciated in long driving especially the ones that involve steep uphill drives.
I'll be switching to K&N when the oil change comes around. Never mind the filter charging. I appreciate my hands getting dirty anyway![]()
yes. I got that link from a very old thread here.
the link mbeige posted had a K&N user and had his personal test, that K&N doesn't filter dirt as much as stock paper. but all of the racing filters gives almost equal gains.
btw, where do you guys buy K&N? may store ba dito that covers a lot of models?

But in order for you to get the most out of the cold air intake you should route it to the front. The ones I saw here in the pics posted are just inhaling hot air, which is less dense, and so you get less oxygen per volume.
my brother is planning to put one on his frontier. would there be any difficulties in the installation?
Most accessory stores that carry K&N carry them in a variety of sizes. Finding one that will fit your ride takes some luck, searching, and experimenting. ;)

any difference when using simota instead of k&n? laki kasi ng price difference. salamat po.
* rion, I bought my k & n filter at Pony's sa tapat ng Ali Mall, there's also a lot of models on display at Han's Tools in Edsa Shang.
*falken: ok salamat po.
*Dyipi: I think Simota is Japan/Korea made and K&N is U.S made...

i considered purchasing drop-in type K&N Filter but changed my mind for the reason that it can't filter dirt the way stock filter does..
siguro mas ok if safari snorkel na lang: cool air intake and flood fording ability. but the price hits the 20k php mark. also, sa nissan terrano lang available ung smooth-end snorkel without that large mouth thingy.. :P .. OT
how about Apexi? is it really the cleanest filter like the reviews say?
sirs, have anyone found a drop in type k&n for their sportivo 2007? no luck in finding one within our province. the one for the trooper doesn't fit well. TIA![]()

hehehe, after using aftermarket filters for the past 6 years, i finally gave up the habit and switched to stock. La lang. True, there are performance gains but i must be getting old and dont want the hassle of cleaning the damn thing.
I used a Finer Filter brand drop-in. A lot harder to clean than K&Ns.
K&N user since december 07 .. IMO mas matipid sa FC both gas and diesel ..
nagka fruity engine sound yung altis ko wich is much greater to hear ..
but may malakas na hissing noise sa trooper (diesel) but both of them increased in acceleration and much smoother i-drive ..
here are some pics ..
sa SPEEDLAB ko nabili .. trooper is 5500Php and for altis is 7000Php
Chrome yung side ng K&N ko with engraved K&N decal
1.8 1zz-fe mas malakas acceleration and much better FC ..
ask ko lang sir memphis malakas din ba hissing sound sa dmax mo? hindi kaya cause ito ng turbocharger? much greater ammount and pressure ng air ang hinihigop papuntang engine ..?
just would like to share my experiment a month ago or so. I am also curious to use a drop-in k&n's too. considering good result of diesels on dyno tests.
I removed our ordinary air-filter and have a jack rabbit acceleration test for our Pajero m/t 2.5TDic and Townace a/t 2.2TDic.
as far as responsive is concerened, didn't feel any gains at all. I was hoping removing it will help remove our van's intercooler turbo lag but it didn't. turbo pressure readings didn't improve.
I think significant improvement is noticable when you drag race style driving it. since I did not attempt to try it on my test.
and I don't think these filters will be noticable on a conservative driving and low and steady rpm driving style. I bet this filters will not help a n/a diesel engine.
the turbo-washer mod proves to be way more effective.
but, I would still like to try this filter myself and test it on everyday roads.
