May 17th, 2012 11:58 PM #1681Hello All!
1) I tried the "search this forum" button but could not find info on my question (closest i got was oil bypass filtration,or maybe its somewhere there??). I`m pretty new to diesel. I have a 4dr5 powered highhood jeep. There apparently is no built in Fuel/Water seperator! Is that normal for the 4dr5 or is it hidden somewhere? Yes it is. The 4DR5 does not originally come with a separator. Otherwise, is there a correct specification fuel/water seperator (even an aftermarket aka replacement)? Or can i just use anything that fits? I just had some fuel system work done, so sayang naman if i dont take care of my engine. Any separator for a similar engine displacement will be fine.
2) Also my element type oil filter leaks at the point where the oil filter housing contacts the base (the one you screw the housing to with a single bolt) even when i tighten up the bolt on the filter housing. I`m used to tightening up regular spin off disposable filters tightly by hand only, masama kaya yung bottom oil filter oil ring ko? Its a new o-ring! Thank You! patrick Only you can determine the cause if this leak.

Thanks for your reply! I got a nippon water seperator. Sa oil leak question ko, i just meant if there was anything out of the ordinary that might be causing the oil leak. Ok, i will doublecheck the usual things like tightness, or even wether the flange surface is contacting the filter correctly(??), etc.. Thanks again! patrick

May 20th, 2012 08:31 AM #1683Thanks for your reply! I got a nippon water seperator. This is ideally mounted before the feed pump. Does it have a filter and glass bowl? How much did it cost?

Check the square-cut oring which goes into the groove of the filter head. Thanks again! patrick

Hi DD,
My choking problem keeps on going back everytime my fuel level reaches slightly below 1/2. Ano kaya ang problema? I already replaced several fuel filters, scv. Napansin ko lang lately pag full tank ulit ako biglang nawawala ang problema. I think there is air going in the system. Whats the first part I should test?
Thanks sir!

May 22nd, 2012 10:51 PM #1688Baka may butas sa bandang gitna yung steel suction pipe sa loob ng fuel tank.
You can do this. Replace the black hose between your fuel filter and supply pump with a transparent hose. Check for presence of air bubbles when your fuel tank is full and when the engine starts choking (fuel level below 1/2). If bubbles start appearing only when your level is below 1/2, you've solved it.
Don't forget to put back the original black rubber hose.
Please share the result in this thread.

Hi Dieseldude. While I would've wanted to solve this problem myself. I've grown tired of this recurring issue sa strada. I decided to sell and just get another pickup. I am choosing between a hilux 3.0 and Dmax. Do these rigs also have SCV issues or resolved na with the newer and longer SCVs?
