    Dieseldude,

on cold starts may konting hunting din sa engine ko. 4d56 turbo diesel. 3 months ago inadjust ko yung accelerator cable para matanggal ang slack. adjusted also the idle screw so the lever will seat. then nagkaroon na ng hunting on cold starts. wala naman masyado when engine is warm. mejo may power reduction na din kasi medyo mas malalim na yung apak sa pedal. all filters are always replaced on time. plus haven't visited yet the pump specialist regarding sa fuel leak sa breather ng pump ko.

    TIA

    Dear Dieseldude:

    Thanks for the prompt reply.

I checked the pump and timing belt area for leaks but found none.

The whole area is quite dry and pristine. No sign of diesel fuel anywhere.

I regularly have the engine washed and would know immediately if there are any suspicious leaks around.

Now if any of those seals were leaking, shouldn't the front area of the engine be bathed in diesel fuel?

There is nothing on the concrete floor of the driveway or even on the underpan.

Is there another path the fuel could be taking that would not cause fuel to leak into the front of the engine?

    Strange isn't it?

    Thanks a bunch,

    Yours truly,

    Dusky Lim

P.S. Could the pressure regulating valve be stuck open and allow diesel fuel to leak paste back into the tank?

Or it could just be haunted (joke).
Hi Duskylim, thanks for sharing your assessment. I don't have much knowledge on engine workings to make a fair comment. I'm hoping now that the observation is more due to my active imagination rather than a real issue with the car .

In our dealings with Cat Engines, clogged fuel filters rather than air filters, will most likely produce hunting on an engine. My doubts on this as the cause for my engine is because of the fact that I change the fuel filter more or earlier than the recommended/estimated filter change interval. D4Ds have a restriction sensor on the fuel filter housing. Indicator lamp on the dashboard will be continuously on if fuel filter is blocked.......time to replace fuel filter.

Anyhow, will share any opinions that casa will have once I get to visit them. Please do.
From the manual, it doesn't appear that there is a fuel filter differential pressure monitoring. The description points more to detection of water accumulation. Thanks anyhow.

D4Ds have 2 sensors on the fuel filter housing, one is for restriction and the other is for presence of water. The indicator lamp turns on continuously if filter is blocked. Same lamp flashes if water is detected.

25 years old ang FX. Bakit mo lalagyan ng new engine ang very old body?
Wala akong alam na makukunan nang bagong 2C. Try mo kaya sa Toyota.

    Hi Dieseldude,

Last month I had jerking problems with my strada but after a few re-fuels it miraculously went out on its own. I'm guessing I had a case of a bad refill which, when I re-fueled from another station diluted the contamination. My dilemma is that I recently replaced fuel filter and only ran 1,500kms on this new item. This was also the time frame when the jerking occurred.

You think I should change to a new fuel filter again since maybe contamination is in the fuel filter? I am worried if there is, it might get sucked by the injectors. Or should I let it be and just change after another 3.5kms? (i normally change every 5tkms) kasabay ng oil change.

The strada is running fine and very good now after 2 full tanks from another station.....

    Many thanks and more power!

I don't have info on the Strada's fuel filter sensors yet.

Fellow tsikoters, if you have info on Djerms' request, post it. Let's help each other.

Not really sure but aside from the water sensor underneath. There is another black sensor attached on top near the priming pump.

Sir Dieseldude, hope you can reply to my previous post on Strada fuel filter. Its just a few posts before this from the previous page. THanks.

My reply has been posted. I was urging fellow Tsikoters to contribute some info about this as I don't have the answer to your question. If you have a Strada, the information could be on the owner's manual.

There is no need to replace the fuel filter if it is original.

Many thanks in advance.

Baka masira ang common rail nozzles dahil napaka liit ng spray holes nito compared to the older designed nozzles.

    Hello All!
    1) I tried the "search this forum" button but could not find info on my question (closest i got was oil bypass filtration,or maybe its somewhere there??). I`m pretty new to diesel. I have a 4dr5 powered highhood jeep. There apparently is no built in Fuel/Water seperator! Is that normal for the 4dr5 or is it hidden somewhere? Otherwise, is there a correct specification fuel/water seperator (even an aftermarket aka replacement)? Or can i just use anything that fits? I just had some fuel system work done, so sayang naman if i dont take care of my engine.

    2) Also my element type oil filter leaks at the point where the oil filter housing contacts the base (the one you screw the housing to with a single bolt) even when i tighten up the bolt on the filter housing. I`m used to tightening up regular spin off disposable filters tightly by hand only, masama kaya yung bottom oil filter oil ring ko? Its a new o-ring! Thank You! patrick
