I havent heard any problem resulting from using an oil catch can and im using one on my truck too.

    Great pictures.

Small amounts of oil in the intercooler is normal.
Thanks just trying to help you answer sir some question, i do modify diesel trucks dito sa thailand with friends, commonrail is one of the best design ever done for us. Keep it up....................will be lurking around.

Thank you sir and other forumer here for being generous giving your knowledge!
Don't know what XUV is. Try mo sa casa sa Lipa, and discuss your concern with the service manager. Btw, what's your total mileage?

Fyi, engines with poor compression can still have good mileage and attain top vehicle speed.

    Good luck.

hi, i have a nissan datsun td23 pickup, last year hindi na register ng brother ko it failed the emission test. recently, i had the nozzles cleaned, timed the injection pump, clean the air filter and still have black smoke. the guys at the calibration center said that because its nissan maitim usok nyan. tama ba to? ano pa ba pwede gawin para maipasa sa emission? (the mechanic recomended that we choke the pump on the day na mag pa emission.) but i want to do it legally clean para pagpalain tayo ni Lord. help...

Sorry for insufficient info, my car is crosswind 2003, 150k mileage niya.

Bought it from the first owner, sabi niya casa maintain and may record naman nga kasama noong kinuha ko.This my first owned diesel car kaya hidi ko pa masyado alam kung ano mga dapat tandaan at gawin.

Isa lang Isuzu casa sa Batangas, anybody here can confirm that Isuzu San Tomas is not that good. kaya tuloy sa Rapide ko nadala although nababasa ko dito na SOP nila hindi ganun kaayos.

had it checked out by Asian engine rebuilders. sobra sobra na daw ang crack. can't be cold-welded na.

going to replace it with a c240 head...keeping fingers crossed for the transplant. heheheh

That's not true. This is a clean burning engine, but emits more smoke than the newer engine models. A little black smoke is normal as long as it passes emission test.

ano pa ba pwede gawin para maipasa sa emission? (the mechanic recomended that we choke the pump on the day na mag pa emission.) but i want to do it legally clean para pagpalain tayo ni Lord. help...
You are doing the right thing. I have seen a lot of cars fail emission test. But when we tested it, the car was actually passing. This means that the testor may just want some under the table money for him to pass an already passing vehicle.

To do a good compression test, the workshop should have an accurate compression gauge, know Isuzu's recommended procedure for conducting this test, and also have the reference minimum pressure values.

I recommend doing the test on a cold engine, before starting it in the morning.

    good day dieseldude,

can you refer me to someone with expertise on diesel engine? much better if you could answer my querry, i am planning to buy a toyota lucida which is not running due to cracked cylinder head 2x. the 1st time it happened, the owner replaced the whole engine but then the head cracked again. 3c engine.. i heard that this is the problem with lucida, emina and estima models. is this problem irreversible? what should be done to prevent head cracking? is it advisable to replaced the whole engine or just the head? please advise..

    thanks and more power..

good day diesel guru's. I have 2010 crosswind xuv mt. 3.5k at odo. ask ko po if normal to have too much smoke w/ this mileage. noticed this after the 1.5k PMS from casa. would it have something to do w/ the motor oil used (15W 40 per SA.)? i've checked sa oil dip stick at normal level naman po. Also twice na ako nagpa muffler flush last 2k and 3k mileage pero still having that smoke na di mo makita sa rear view mirror kasunod na car when rpm is at 2.5-3k. Ano po suggestion nyo. thanks po.

good day sir, i am an owner of a jdm, 3door pajero with a 4d56 turbo intercooled engine.

would just want to ask if my paj needs a overhaul already. because at idle it emits a bit of white smoke and a certain smell.

also, the dipstick and oil filler spits some of the oil when i open it at start. along with that white smoke also comes out of the breather hose.

and i think my oil catch can is being useless since oil still gets into the intake.
plus my fuel consumption is just 6.5km/l on city and hiway about 8km/l. which i think is very bad.

just an info, about 6 months ago, we replaced our piston rings since my mechanic suspected loose compression. its now oversized btw.

what do you suggest for me to do?

Baka accelerator cable/linkage problem, barado fuel filter, or faulty injection pump.

nasa 46km mileage pa lang po yun crosswind namin. ano po pala gamit nun water separator? Pang separate ito ng fuel and water.

kelan po ba dapat dinadrain yun? Kapag umilaw ang WIF (water in fuel) indicator light. Tingnan mo din sa owner's manual kung meron regular drain schedule.

    thanks in advance... You're welcome...

Is this problem irreversible? I don't know. We've worked on these cars and don't see overheat to be a common problem.

what should be done to prevent head cracking? Make sure that a thermostat is installed. And check water pump, radiator, hoses, and belts.

Is it advisable to replaced the whole engine or just the head? please advise.. It depends upon the condition of the liners and pistons. Prolonged and intense overheating causes the pistons to over-expand and score the cylinder walls..... lose compression and engine blowby are the results.

thanks and more power.. You're welcome...

This car should still be within warranty. I would ask the casa to correct the problem free of charge.

Is power ok? What's the color of smoke?

what do you suggest for me to do? Your post seems to indicate that overhaul is the fix. Check piston ring groove width, replace if worn; replace piston rings, and resleeve cylinders to standard size....

    Sir Dieseldude,

Just had my 2002 Revo (195T kms) calibrated at Denso Westgate. Problem is it still emits a lot of black smoke. Although I feel power improved as well as consumption. History of the revo is it overheated. Had it overhauled. Changed pistons, rings, lining, valves. Do you think there was a problem in the calibration that's why there is still a lot of black smoke? I'm planning on sending it back to Denso though. Do I need to ask the mechanic or see that what he is doing is correct?
