Pay no attention to pitbullz. He makes as much sense as his sig, and sadly, his capacity to spell correctly.

A friend of mine came to Great Wall's Binondo office the other day, and he got the prices of some Great Wall vehicles. Can someone confirm them for me?

    GWPeri - 495,000
    Florid - 625,000
    Wingle (4x2) - 798,000
    Wingle (4x4) - 980,000
    Hover (4x2) - 998,000
    Hover (4x4) - 1.150 M

*He dared not ask about the Cool Bear and Cowry prices.

Looking at this list, I can easily say that they're too steep. I think State Motors, Inc. should reconsider the premium they're putting on their vehicles, given the stigma Filipinos have against new, untested products, especially those which came from China. For these prices, might as well buy their more popular counterparts sold by world class brands, like Toyota, Honda, Mitsubishi and Hyundai.

It's like buying the new KIA Soul, only worse ('cause it doesn't look quite as nice as the Soul, and it's quality is unproven, if not iffy). Sure, it's bound to turn heads. Sure, its unique. But are you seriously going to invest your hard-earned money on a Soul if there are more practical, popular, and proven choices out there?

I'm not hating on GW. In fact, I see the potential in Chinese car brands. They are, after all, constantly improving the quality of their cars. But as of now, I don't think GW cars are a sound purchase (in the Philippines), pricewise.

*Jeady - napansin ko sa mga post mo na may patama ka sa mga China cars hehe but anyway I agree with you naman.

Why? Forget the other car models of GW, lets just take a look at GWPeri - 495,000.

495k? Yup maganda ang itsura pero ang reliability.. not sure pa rin tayo. I would rather invest on a Hyundai i10 or Suzuki Celerio. Siguro kung ilalaban nila ito sa 350-400k baka pe-pwede pa.

Yes, your prices are correct. For the info of the others, Cool Bear is P695,000 and Cowry is P885,000.00.

By the way, BDO gives up to 48 months financing for Great Wall vehicles. It must imply something.

As for the steep prices, aside from the top of the line performance and safety features of most of our Great Wall models (dual air-bags, abs+ebd, at least 4-star ratings for international standard crash tests, euro 3 & euro 4 emissions, CRDi for diesel, etc.), what makes the prices steep are the taxes as they are CBUs.

We are making available only the best variants of every model. The reason for this is that we want to offer the best of what Great Wall Motor can offer as of the moment maski medyo mataas ang prices para naman hindi kami mapahiya sa market kaysa ilabas namin ang mura pero puro naman batikos ang matatanggap namin afterwards. If a client would order lower variants for fleet or volume orders, we could also accommodate.

Hehe... Thanks for agreeing with me. I only have beef with China brands that are way over their heads.

Sadly, very few people post anything stimulating on this thread. Case in point: post above. Insecure about other car brands much? Hehehe...

Thanks for sharing the prices of the Cool Bear and Cowry.

It's great that GW cares about the quality of its cars a lot, but I disagree with you about pricing.

"...kaysa ilabas namin ang mura pero puro naman batikos..."

How a company prices a vehicle, no matter how high or low, doesn't make it more durable. If two cars are as durable as the other, which one do you think would consumers buy?--the one that is priced higher or the one that is more affordable?

By the way, I was at WTC when GW was launched at this year's MIAS. I spent much time inside the Peri, and at best, its refinement is only at par with other China-made subcompacts. In fact, I was even at the test-drive area, waiting for my turn to drive the Hover when it broke down, and had to be towed away 'cause it was having gear box problems.

    Thank you for your insights.

What I meant regarding the price is that the variants with more safety and performance features really cost higher than the lower variants meaning we can't do anything about the prices yet unless we sell at cost which is not good for business. Later on, we could still adjust prices when we undergo KD as taxes and duties are much lower. But as of now, we are in the CBU stage.

The units at the WTC were the previous models and lower variants. We brought in the next generation with improved specifications and performance. For instance, the Peri in WTC didn't have dual airbags, abs and ebd. Also there are strategic changes in the upholstery, interior and other minor improved details. This is the same with the other models.

Also, before we release units for sale, we conduct thorough PDI to ensure that the units are in it's 100% condition. Defective units are replaced even before displaying.
