Wait... a torsion beam?
GM have created a big, good-looking, quiet, refined car with proper space... then they went and gave it a torsion beam? Ewww.
No surprises there... Focus drives better, accelerates faster (due to less weight), gets better economy... but loses because it's more expensive... however, there's no Cruze diesel here yet... and the Cruze 1.8 matches up spec-for-spec in terms of price to the Focus 1.8... being just slightly larger on the inside.
Quite interesting.
Ang pagbalik ng comeback...
took a close look on these two cars lately.
Interior-wise the Cruze is indeed the better of the two cars. Better looking switches, knobs. Better looking integrated HU. Materials feel better too (especially against the trend m/t or style with its beige/black combo) The aux-in's also in a more convenient spot (center console) than that of the focus (glove box), and has usb support. Cruze also has better rear legroom and space than that of the Focus (and the focus has this rear armrest that's going to be nasty to a 3rd passenger at the back).
BUT... you can get a trend A/T for 809k (hilig ng ford sa discount) - fully a hundred thousand less than that of the cheapest A/T cruze.
oo nga eh, wala man lang ako makita sa roads. looks like the Filipino people is getting smarter. hindi porkit mura ang SRP. nakakatawa etong chevy are they pulling the same scheme with the optra. di ba yun optra daewoo din, itong cruze daewoo din pala
afaik, not all korean cars are ok. look at sangyong nag-fold.
ang ok lang naman sa hyundia-kia is bec. they have been in the heavy equip industries before they venture into cars. that's why siguro maganda ang korean company na ito ngaun.
chevy cruze should offer at 200k less than the civic. then that's the time siguro it's a value for money.
May nakita na akong Chevrolet Cruze 1.8 Liter LS at kulay blue sya.
My dad is considering of buying one kahit Cruze 1.8 L lang as one of our company cars sa fleet namin!Tumingin sya kanina sa Chevrolet Shaw kanina!
May 1.6 Liter nito sa ibang countries pero di na nilabas dito dahil mahina ang engine nya.

Sir eggman you might want to look at the display unit sa Trinoma.. 1.8LS din, white color.. I just don't know kung nandoon pa siya, pero most likely nandoon pa yun
Ang laki ng Cruze, mataba siya compared sa Altis and Civic..
Ang laki ng trunk space niya, parang Altis.. Legroom in the rear seats is just right.. Though yung floor niya (rear), hindi flat sa gitna..
When I sat on the driver's seat naman, ang dami masyadong buttons ng Cruze hehe.. Parang ang complicated for me.. Pati yung Instrument Panel parang hindi ganoon ka-organized..
Just my :twocents: lang po.. Subjective opinion yan hehe
Pag bumibili tayo ng sasakyan dapat wag lang natin tingnan yung SRP,fuel consumption at yung features para sabihing best bang for the buck. Importante din yung maintenance cost. Mura nga ng 50-100k sa kalaban mas busog nga sa toys, tuwing pupunta ka sa casa every PMS mahina ang 10k, in the long run ikaw ang olats![]()
xander :: pati pala dito, hinahabol mo si GM.
OnTopic ::
I haven't seen a Cruze in a while now. The last time I saw it was like 2 weeks ago(?) , and that was the 2nd one. Yes, the interior space is big, it has lots of toys and it really is cheap. But is the maintenance cheap too ? No. Knowing Chevy, their parts are damn expensive. :nono:
I still wouldn't care if I drive a common Altis, Civic etc. etc. atleast my money wouldn't be burned when the PMS schedule comes.![]()
Kung ang maintenance ng Cruze is as suggested in this thread, aba e parang nag-maintain ka na ng BMW. Then again at that price, I can already buy a not-so-old BMW 3-series, which is leaps and bounds a better car probably except in the "toys" department, and still have it casa-maintained, and ultimately end up with a total cost of ownership not much higher than with a Cruze while driving a totally better-league car.
Amazing how maintenance of Chevy is so expensive here.
saw a red one last night. mukhang civic from afar! hehe.
agreed: a car, in real life, is only as good as the logistics behind it...
I was asking the chevy sales rep twing kelan ang servicing ng cruze... nagulat ako kasi every 5k raw. anybody confirm this? yung iba every 10k na e
are you saying the cruze is made by daewoo and rebadged as chevy? then, you cannot be more wrong (wronger?hehehe). while the optra is indeed developed by daewoo but rebadged as chevy in the Phil market (it was sold as suzuki in US) the cruze is developed by GM as its global car although it is being sold as daewoo lacetti in korea.
now don't say - ganun din yun, if you followed the logic (or have i lost you already?) baliktad ang nagyari. Simply put, the optra is a korean car sold in the Philippines under american brand while the cruze is an american car sold in korea under a korean brand.
i am not saying that it is a good car or value for money (unit price and maintenance included) though. but i'd say i like the look, it gives me the impression of mass without the bulkiness. what i do not like is the rear, it looks so much like the civic fd!
*scharn :: :dunno: but it's probably possible. All I know is, it's pretty expensive, just not sure if it's in the BMW level already. And yeah, parts too is somewhat hard to source out and if CASA is your only last choice then you gotta wait for the parts to arrive.
Yes, sayang nga kung walang bibili but mas sayang kung may bibili din pero, di naman masisiyahan.
They say cruze could be the Civic or Altis killer ? Nah, I don't think so.
correct. but the cruze was designed by opel while under GM (as an integrated part of GM's global product development organization). so it's a GM product through and through. but in optra's case, it's a car developed by daewoo before it folded but was released as a GM car after GM took over daewoo in 2002.but i think i'm wrong in describing it as american car as it was actually intended as a global design.
btw, holden designers will take over opel in designing the cruze hatchback
