It's probably a Civic and Altis killer, but in some other parts of the world, not just here. :D

Diba Lancer EX na ang pumalit sa Civic FD?
I think may mga buyers parin nitong Cruze pero di ganoon kadami.
Ayusin dapat ng TCCCI yan!![]()
how much na ba Cruze ngayin d2?? ung lowest price??
worth it ba??
thnx!!!
took the cruze for a test drive...er...for a walk around the carpark. chevy doesnt allow driving the test drive unit farther due to a previous carjacking incident. anyway, here are my comments:
> unit tested was the Cruze 1.8 L DVVT ECOTEC DOHC LS at Php 908,888.00
> seats are comfortable, the cloth is soft and looks pricey, although it seems to be difficult to clean. not sure if comfortable on long drives or spirited touring/driving as this was not tested
> there was no chime, no buzzer, or audio warning whatsoever when you insert the key into the key fob before starting the car. instruments also do not swipe across the dial (or even move a bit) when starting the engine... i think this is standard on mazda models (mazda3, mazda6, etc)
> max speed around the carpark is 40km/h hence was not able to test acceleration and braking
> interior was spacious, could fit four adults comfortably. the legroom is not as spacious as the civic fd, though
> i don't know if it's just the time of day that i tested the unit, or the absence of tint on the unit, but i can't view the instrument cluster well - the glass / plastic cover is quite glary
> you can operate the radio / multifunction display audio controls even when the key is out
> the audio controls mounted on the steering wheel can also control the multi-functional display, the lcd of which is mounted on the center of the dashboard, just above the main audio. very clever design.
> the build quality of the body seems ok (not tested on road stress, as chevy doesn't allow their cars to be driven farther from the parking lot). but im wondering if the body can hold out in long drives with the condition of Philippine roads. the doors sound good, but not exceptional, when closed. you hear a thug with echoing rubber and plastics, almost at par with the lancer ex and civic fd. I'd like to mention though that i really liked hearing the subaru impreza's door, which sounds very, very solid when closed.
> the chevy cruze uses a touch-sensitive switch on the trunk and does not use the conventional key or trunk release button / lever to open the trunk. the touch switch is disabled/turned-off (to prevent opening) when the central lock is engaged.
> the hood is quite heavy, probably because of its bulky and wide design (very heavy compared to the hood of the civic fd, which is 1/2 of its area)
> engine has no engine cover, just don't know if the high-end LT model has one.
sensya na kung puro interior ang nabanggit ko, as chevy only allows very limited driving of the car...
overall, i'd say that chevy has indeed developed a better vehicle with lots of improvements over the optra (or even the us-built cobalt) but it seems that the optra and cruze are two very different vehicles, unlike, the corolla, sentra, lancer, or the civic, wherein you can see some resemblance of the new model over the previous model. what made the test drive experience worse is that chevy does not allow prospective customers to fully explore the capabilities of their vehicle. further to this, they also have no comment on high maintenance costs; chevy only claims that they have no record yet of any maintenance cost as units have just been delivered to owners.
Re: maintenance cost.
Hindi ba dapat nakalapag na yung costs either way?
"Ah, wala pa namang Cruze pinapasok para sa 35k km checkup. We'll decide which parts/fluids to repair/top-up when it arrives."
Uh. Not a good answer IMO.
They couldn't even give a ballpark figure?
Its better to wait and find out how much maintenance will cost before buying. If they want to compete with honda/toyota, better make the PMS pricing competitive as well. Minurahan na nila yung SRP, lubos lubusin na nila...
Has anybody actually bought a cruze yet?.. I have a LS variant and would like to compare notes. Anyone?![]()
na intriga ako dun what happened. never heard of that news until i read your post here.
I saw a white Cruze LT earlier parked sa Piazza. I have to say that I really like the design. Macho sya. Im guessing most females will not like the look of the Cruze because of this.
Hi all, I'll give my feedback on maintenance cost as soon as I reach 10,000Km. or six months whichever comes first. That's the recommended service schedule - Every 10,000Km. It sounds good. The only thing is... If you don't use the car that often, for instance if it's a second car, then you still are kind of required to have it serviced every 6 months regardless of Kilometers ran. Otherwise, the warranty might be voided. We'll see.
So far... I like the car very much. It truly is a sports sedan to me. Depending on the angle I look at it, it's a sports car and sedan in one car. FC so far is around 6km/L. But that is short-slow drives around hills, having the 3rd as my top gear.
I'm quite confused on the traction control and stability control being equipped on the LS variant. It says right on the brochure that the LS comes with it. When I turn the ignition on though, the icon does not light up on the dash board. I asked the SA about it, and she said the brochure is one concern that chevrolet should have changed. Damn! I'm guessing the later versions of LS would come equipped with traction and stability controls (at a premium of course), but not the intro LS. Double Damn!
I like the USB port. I plug in my 4Gb USB Drive with thousands of songs and the music folders comes up on the driver info display.
The drive is amazing. Forward is smooth, backward is even better with that 4-eye sensors. No need to turn my neck around. The cabin is silent. In fact so silent that even the smallest sound magnifies into an irritating noise. It's probably just me...
Anybody passing up on getting this car by reason of the optra customer satisfaction issue and the chevy high maintenance cost is missing out on owning a great buy. That's merely my opinion. Probably too early for me to say that, so might as well wait a year from now when I've personally experienced chevy service and thousands of kilometers on my odo.
On another note, I hate the slogan "Cruze for every Juan Dela Cruz" This ain't a people's car much like the Kia pride, is it?
You know the main reason why I crossed my finger and went ahead and bought a cruze in spite of tons of negative write-ups and comments regarding chevrolet phils? It's because of the Covenant Cars, Inc. taking over the business from the previous entity. Just a week ago I received a call from Chevy customer service asking about my experience with Chevrolet Dagupan. This shows that TCCI is concerned about customer satisfaction and changing the common image implanted on our minds. GO Atty. Arcilla!Another reason is... this is a global car. And General Motors have so much pinned on this car. They can't afford to fail and lose face. 1st to the U.S. Gov't who bailed them out from bankruptcy and then to the rest of the world. And to me of course. haha
Thanks to this venue/forum, we have a way to connect. More power Tsikot/Yehey!![]()
I got the LS A/T color white. May +/- manual option din.
Yun pala pagka nka-manual mode ako, automatic down shift pa rin pag bumagal takbo ko, hindi ngalang sya mag up-shift. Parang semi-manual.
