They faked that scene, it was shot in the US.

The Police cars appear to be mid-size USDM Chevy Malibus.

Even the black hood of the Police car outlines the cut lines of the Malibu's hood.

    Cruze

Compare the shape of the headlights and the location of the bar and bowtie on the grill, very different from the Police car.

    *Update*
Confirmed: "fake" chinese police cars were Chevy Malibus...

I everyone. I test drove the Cruze yesterday. I really loved the interiors of the car and the car no doubt handles well. However, my only concern is that its really unlike other cars in the segment when it comes down to initial pickup. It seems that one needs to press the accelerator a lil more than usual for it to pick up. It takes it own sweet time to pick up the momentum unless you really floor it. But once it picks up it drives well.
Apart from this concern I felt that the car is really well built. No complaints apart from this.
Has anyone felt the same or is it just me? I guess once if you drive the car more one, one might get used to it.

Did you test drive an automatic? I didn't notice that on mine (the first time i drove it), I still don't. What i noticed though is how soon it shifts to 3rd gear. That could probably be the reason why there's an apparent delay in momentum. But it saves on gas. A couple of times I went up kennon road, I checked on the gear choice of the auto transmission and to my surprise it's shifting between 4th and 5th gear at a speed of about 50-60km/hr. It would only shift to 3rd or 2nd on very steep curving inclines.

Except what sprint booster actually does is just to give the car more gas on the get-go.

Piggyback ECU nalang. Sprint booster effect, with fuel savings and more power

Or if you can live with it, just stay stock :p

either piggyback ecu or sprint booster consume more gas than stock nothing is free though both mods promise better fc but still has to be seen. the forme will gain hp/torque but price double or even triple than the latter...

The slow in pick-up of the accelerator is for safety purposes which you'll also experience and find on some luxury cars designs.

Just brought home our red cruze yesterday and didn't find the lag you noted. In fact, I think the car is a bit too eager in downshifting, as it seems to downshift a bit ahead of other automatic equipped cars that I owned, per and post Ondoy. In any case, I'm satisfied with the performance so far. The car is peppy, but not as speedy as the Lancer EX MX I had before Ondoy. But that car had a 2.0l engine vs the 1.8l of the Cruze. Haven't taken it out for a long drive yet, but I suspect the car will be easy to drive and should be able to handle high speed overtaking. But the champ of sheer brutal acceleration goes to any turbo-diesel SUV (specifically my wife's office-issued Montero Sport), which puts any normally aspirated sedan to shame, at least until you reach upper triple digit speeds, where the sedans take over.

Also, the interior, while visually interesting, seems to have used cheaper materials vs others in its class. But the over-all effect is classy. Yoko lang yung textile trim that runs across the dash. That's a dirt magnet for people who have young kids like me. Time to use 3M Scotchgard on it.

Also, I miss the one-touch up and down that I had with my Opel Astra. Most of the controls of the car are more Euro-centric, which were familiar to me since I had an Astra before I had this. Also, the ECOTEC engine seems to run rather hot, just like my Astra's engine. You can feel the heat at the bottom of the car. Must be a characteristic of this engine family.

For those who are interested, the first checkup is at 10,000km, with the succeeding service intervals at 5,000 km.

More as I log in more km. . .

A/T yung mid-level version. Yup, yun yung sabi sa akin. No more 1k check up.

Come to think of it, my Suzuki APV (which was washed out by Ondoy) also mandated a first checkup of 5k yata if I remember, noong GM-related pa siya. Wala nang 1k check up din. Only the Jap manufacturers yata still stick to this sked. Ewan ko lang sa ibang brands though. . .

Also, forgot to mention that the free matting of the Cruze is pure crap. Thin, tapos hindi pa match sa width ng passenger area. Bought 3M matting to replace it.

AFAIK Kia also doesn't have the 1K PMS scheme.

The front end looks good. Looks big! Red is the best color of the bunch, imo. The back looks a bit like the Civic FD and Camry.

I've always found the dash of the cruze attractive, especially with that center-mounted multi-control system. Looks better than that of the altis and the focus, IMHO.

but it seems that the cruze is indeed paying for it's weight in terms of FC.

It's not a safety feature.

So I guess, pareho lang yang Cruze sa Optra wherein mahina sa acceleration because of it's weight pero mabilis sa rektahan.

Bottomline is, hindi yan safety feature. Sadyang mabigat ang body kaya ganun.
