What car are you driving now, sir?

My Chevrolet Cruze 1.8 LS Automatic, Odometer = 2,800 km

Highway: varies from 12 to 15 km per liter
City: around 7 to 8 km per liter
Combined 50-50: around 9 to 10 km per liter

Keep in mind this is automatic transmission therefore the engine runs at higher RPM's most of the time. If this were a manual tranny I could get far better economy.

I wonder why you have a very poor fuel economy. Does your trip meter reflect your consumption? Your average of 6 km/l should give a reading of about 16 l/100km on the trip meter. Is that what you're getting?

With my Cruze, I noticed that when idling at stationary, that's when the fuel consumption really shoots up.

Have you ever driven your Cruze straight highway in 6th gear? What's the reading?

Been to Tagaytay yesterday via Sta Rosa and passed via Silang - Dasma-Daang hari going home -11kpl, top speed 140kph at SLEX. So I think this is good enough. Baka umabot ka pa 12 to 13kpl if youre driving 80 to 100kph only.

    City driving - 5 to 6kpl only. Mine is LS A/T Odometer - 2.7K

Still observing until I reached 5K to 10K on my Odometer.

NOW, this is very comforting. Earlier, I was thinking of changing from Cruze back to City cuz of the so-called 'scare' of high consumption in fuel. Mamumulubi ako kung 6kml lang.

Am driving a 1.3E Vios now. Thanks sa inputs bro. Really appreciate it.

Can't go over 100kph kasi sakay ko anak ko. So it is true then that AT consumes more fuel than MT. Would love to get the AT, kaso lang kapos na sa budget.

Now, I am back on the CRUZE LS/MT. Thanks sa input bro.

I usually don't use the on board computer since it does not seem accurate. My cruze has only seen city traffic driving, with lots of idling time.

Will update pag na out of town trip ko na.

So, I'm curious. May I know the average consumption in l/100km on the computer/trip meter? TIA

I have the same question, if the onboard computer is inaccurate then what would be our basis for computation? mano-mano ba?

Mano mano is still the gold standard. As long as conditions are the same each time you fill up, that is, same gas station, same incline on the ground, etc.

The onboard computer uses MAF data to compute fuel consumption. It may not be as accurate as the mano mano method but I also don't believe that it could be way way off. I find that my onboard computer errs to the high side (more fuel consumed) as compared to mano mano, but not that much.

I also have an aftermarket trip computer called ScanGauge (www.scangauge.com) which I plug to the OBD II port under the dash, and it pretty much coincides with the onboard computer reading.

I just think that moipogi's consumption of 6 km per liter is very high, let alone 4.5 km per liter. To think that this has been measured mano mano.

I think the 4.5 to 6kml calculation is too low and only applies to bigger cars like SUVs. Maybe there is something wrong with his car? or just a miscalculation on his part?

My LT initially consumed 6km per liter. After running more than 4,000 kilometers, it improved to 8 to 9 km/liter.

Thanks for sharing... I'm looking forward to that consumption since I'm still at 2.7K at my Odometer.

I have no problem on long drive but city driving is still high consumption at 5 to 6kpl.

hi to all cruze owners. I have a question regarding the a/c control of it whenever I always turn 'ON' my A/C with the Fan, I always have to press the "Cooling" and the "Air Recirculation" Button everyday I start my cruze. But after I have set the cooling and air recirculation button 'ON', its just gona be set for a day without pressing the buttons again. And after a long period of time without starting the engine, the cooling and air recirculation button is set to 'OFF' again (meaning it doesn't have the yellow orange lit on it)..
    Thanks guys..
Btw, I have the Cruze LS MT.

Here's my Cruze.. Love it at first sight! so far so good, just cruze all the way!

ganda ng cruze mo sir. maluwag ba sa loob? hindi ba sya matagtag?

mas maayos pa nga climate control nyo sir, sa akin cefiro tuwing bubuksan ko aircon dapat i-on ko din yung recirculate, hehe.

hehe thank you sir.. The space inside it is bigger compared to any sedans. Its like a baby camry for me. The trunk/boot is huge. They said its the largest on its class.. You can find some reviews of it (Cruze LT). http://www.autoindustriya.com/car-re...e-lt.html#nogo

For me, its very comfy to drive (Cruise) compared to my focus hatch before.

    Very nice Cruze!

I solved the "amnesia" problem of the A/C by not turning it off. It's always in the 'ON' position, and when I start the car the 'cooling' and
'recirculation' is already on by default.

I don't know why the Cruze has this problem when the manual says that the settings are stored on the key.

Sometimes it's better to have those mechanical toggle switches rather than these 'digital' switches.
