I told her I want the AVP role and I don't think I can get it in her team since there is an HR constraint na minimum tenure - she said she will give me a big ticket project and will ask for the help of the director in headquarters to endorse me so I can get it 2021 OMG!!

Then I told her I need to go to the US for 3 to 4 mos and she said she will hire a temporary person as backfill daw while I am away

I was also very flattered because she said she needs my expertise in the team at may branding na daw ako sa company (thank God that our counterparts always drop my name when it comes to my specialization)

She also told me that my VP boss now will be disappointed if she is not able to hire me because my VP called her to make sure that I am retained in the company

OMG!!! So many reasons to stay! SET NA KO to get my package but now Director is making it hard for me! She is asking me to please stay and help her implement her projects muna. Tuturuan din ako sa agile methodology which will make me more marketable daw. I will also learn SAP 4 HANA, kasi now SAP R3 pa samin LOL

I don't know what is the right decision anymore
    it would seem,
they're bending the brick wall just for you.
they're giving you everything you ask for.

take it, go to the US, and come back, as scheduled.
you can always resign later, if you are still professionally unhappy.

During these thriving times, you just feel good that you still have a job. Unless of course, you just live like a bum sustaining on the wealth of your parents. Hehehe

^Exactly. Take the new role now or you'll just disappoint everyone who moved mountains just to retain you. You have to move on, step away from your comfort zone.

I really hate my life. I'm such a failure in everything. I had to lose the one thing going great in my life.

Wala na ko plano sa buhay. I'll just let myself rot here. Wala na ko ka gana gana.

If you knew my life story, no. I really don't know what I did to deserve this miserable life.

    what's miserable about it?
from what i understand, it's "miserable" only because it is not going in the direction you want.
is it possible, it's going in the direction that you will actually benefit from? in ways you probably have not yet fathomed?
is it possible, you are mistaking "confused" or "overwhelmed" for "miserable" ?

you're just outside of your comfort zone, that's why.

    travs is right.
the blessings are knocking on your door in droves, and have even paved the walkway to it from the street.
when will you open the door?

I have not slept since yesterday. I've been agonizing on my decision. I want to take the lumpsum but I know the right or wise thing to do is to take the job offer of the director.

All my friends except for 3 are telling me to stay at my job because of the pandemic. But I've wanted this lumpsum for so long, director made the choice hard for me.

I'm just sad na I always get into terrible situations. Like why did I have to lose the job I love so much.

At a time when jobs are cut, many wondering where their next meal will come & where from...Here you are, wanted & begged...yet, still weighing on a non-dilemma. Times are tough, it's gonna be so for a long while. Discern. Pray. Stay.

    Thanks tsikoteers

My Mom told me to get the lumpsum and just stay home for 1 yr until the china virus is over. I was about to send the email declining the role, when the director sent me an email na I will STILL be an individual contributor (meaning I work on my own, because I don't like having "team mates") So my LAST condition is if I can work from home until it is safe to go outside. If she says yes, stay ako

Sayang talaga the lumpsum + retirement, that's equivalent to 2 yrs and 6 mos of my net salary! But I am DYING to have the AVP title!!!

Im gonna go left field here:

    1. You will NEVER know how good you have had it until you lost it

    2. You will never get out of your comfort zone because these bosses spoil you rotten. Parang under sila sa iyo

    3. You will never grow out of your sheltered cocoon because your bosses will always pander to your every need. If those guys worked in my company, theyd be fired. Are they that helpless and dependent? No one is indispensable but they break all the rules for you...and it sets a bad precedent. You as well with your attendance. Regardless of your productivity. You cant set a bad example where i work.

    4. You wanna grow? Personally and professionally? Well you cant grow in that environment where every tantrum you throw is REWARDED.

    5. You always say you have no savings...well that big lump sum is a huge head start. You wont get that anywhere else in this environment

    6. You will live your life full of "what ifs" and indecision if you stay in that sheltered, cushy role. What kind of department do they run there anyways that you can dictate your terms to the bosses and they wait on your every decision or indecision? No wonder its being moved to India. All softies.

    Conclusion:

Get out of there. Save yourself from cooking in your own pot. This is the kick in your life that you need.

I am surprised that even if you do not know me personally, you say the same things as my friends and colleagues! I have to admit that even my former VP in Manila and Current VP in Germany admits that they spoiled me. Also, how do you know about the tantrums!?!?

Anyway, this new director, I never worked for her, but she said that my current VP boss and counterparties spoke well of me that is why she wants me in her team. I am so thankful that she gives me time because I could see that her calendar is always blocked the whole day

I was really going to decline the role e she countered it na I can get the promotion (if my project is a success) and I can go to the US again next year. Then she also gave in na I like to work alone, everyone is telling me na if she gives in to my work from home request until year end na I should accept na kasi almost sure ball na the promotion - I want that title so bad! I am the ONLY tenured employee that will forego the package if I accept this role, so I am sacrificing din naman.

Pero what you said made me think - I don't know what I have until I lose it. I might be mad at myself if the I leave the company and I can't find a new job because we are in a pandemic. The major reason why I can't decide if I want the package or not is because I am afraid to go out of my comfort zone. BUT BUT BUT there is a side of me that wants to explore, new company and new friends, but someone told me now is not the time to take risks and job security is priority

EQ, I know you have concern for me, but are you serious na you want me to leave the company in the middle of the pandemic? Kasi among my friends only 3 said to leave kasi risk takers yun, but 90% told me to stay because of the uncertainty. I browsed some jobs pala online parang not much opening esp since I am a specialist.

My immune system is down na because I have not slept for 2 days thinking about whether I should accept or not

Please reply to me soon kasi they need my answer nga June pa

    Well.

2.5 yrs of net salary is a LOT of savings and a substantial nest egg. That MAY be the impetus you need to start believing in yourself once again . And it is a big cushion regardless...so you are free to take a new step in life without worrying too much about funds.

Yes, staying in [mod snip] is the safe choice. I wont argue that. But your WHOLE life you have been sheltered...by your mom, your friends, your aunties, your colleagues and your superiors. Thats a BIG part of the reason why you are so indecisive. You are waiting constantly for others to make the decision/action for you.

That may have some benefits...but in the long run, you will stagnate as you havent been pushing yourself. And you will be the first to admit it.

You have said many times here that you have nothing to show for all the years you have toiled in [mod snip]. 1 more year in your comfort zone---avp title or not---- will NOT change that significantly.

BUT, getting your nest egg of 7 figures plus striking out on your own in the Land of the Free....thats an adventure! Thats an accomplishment! Thats real savings you can count on! Money earned! This will just be the beginning of you changing your life trajectory. And you will build the character and strength you obviously and sorely need.

Hey..nothing is certain. And yes having a job during these times is a no brainer. But they can lay you off anytime as well and you will miss out on the package of a lifetime. Or your dream guy could probably be waiting in your next job...you're just stuck in the past and will miss your chance to meet him .

How you can read me like a book It's true! Kaya I go for alpha males because I need a person with a strong personality that I can look up to - make decisions or take care of me I can be really stubborn so that person needs to be able to manage or control me talaga.

Oh, my salary is small lang ha, but I will get 7 digits though my Kuya said I could burn that all in a year - but I WON'T

LOL * dream guy, funny nga in my 10+ yrs at the bank, I found less than 5 people attractive (puro boss ko pa!) I really have a thing for the powerful executive type

HAHAHA, no kaya, maraming mali mali ang interpretation sakin (which really annoys me when it's opposite)

BTW, director gave in to my complete work from home until pandemic is over request

How do I decline this role na I don't want to burn bridges

[emoji4]
