Job Prospects in the Time of Corona Virus?

I don't know how to start my farewell email, I will write my former alpha VP boss and current VP boss individual emails because they made the most difference in my career.

Nasa dear pa lang ako naiyak na ko and now I can't do anything. Sobrang sakit talaga to lose the role and bosses that I love so much. Ako lang ata nag last day na umiiyak sa sama ng loob

I am a few hours away from deactivating my work access.

Anyway, our current COO, I used to report directly to him when he was still a VP, this was for a few months as they were preparing for my transition/move to headquarters (na hindi natuloy). I included him in my farewell and I was surprised that we exchanged several mails! He only heard yesterday about the change in our structure, it makes me wonder kung nagawaan ng paraan if he knew about it, sayang talaga kasi hindi na si alpha VP boss or siya ang direct manager ko, baka may way para ipasok ako sa ibang cost center. Oh well...

They did it for the whole department kaya [emoji14] I really have to give it to the company, they treat their employees well. Minalas lang kami na nadamay department namin sa politics ng isang evil director who hates our VP/department head in Manila kaya nilipat sa India buong department namin

Saka hello shadow, HR gave me 2 additional months to think about my decision kasi nga may order from the that evil director to keep me in the organization [emoji14] Kahit August last day ko employed pa ko until end of September [emoji14]

My boss loves me, hello [emoji14] Sabi ko sa mga boss punta muna ko US, next year na ko ulit mag work hehe

Packing your stuff makes it feel worse after hearing you’ve been let go from your job.

I feel bad a few months ago when we had to let go of some people when a client decided to cut our work engagement. This week I felt better when I heard that those people already looking to start new jobs.

Attractive resumes are concise and easy so see the highlights achievements and accomplishments from present and previous jobs/roles. Resumes that only shows a long list of bland skills without any strong emphasis on how those skills were used are likely going to be skimmed over.

Hahaha! Nireregaluhan din kaya ako ng boss ko. Pinaka classic yung wala siya time bilhin yung gusto ko, inutusan ba naman yung isang pinoy AVP to buy [emoji23]

Seriously, ang dami ko kasi naging position. Inisip ko pati ba trainings ko from more than 10 yrs ago isama ko pa. Pero feeling ko importante naman like yung signature verification training ko.

I squeezed my CV into 3 pages and that covers 22 years of work experience. I need not indicate what achievements I had back in high school or college. Just indicated my college degree and the university I got it.

Important things are the key roles and responsibilities within each of your jobs. Also indicate in a summary view your list of skills.

I have been in a position where I review CVs of candidates for positions within the organizations I was part of. I want to read something concise but with emphasis on acquired skills. An interview will validate what is written in the CV. College degree or school where you got it is not as important for me.

As you go up the ladder from middle management and higher, an impresive CV and how your industry network hears and perceived your performance is equally important.

It maybe more biased towards the latter [ sort of a pre screening and searching the right talent fit] , you get an interview request without even sending a CV. CV becomes a paperwork after.


Hindi yung network na “free ka, kape tayo”.

My former controller referred me to an AVP job where she is working now (I posted about her yung single CPA na girl crush ko kasi cute mukhang anime)

I did a test and the assessment for my top 3 talents came out as:

Managing Others
Persuasion
Communication

I did not lie in any of the questions so I don't know why Managing others came out? I want to be a specialist (just like in my previous job) as I don't want people under me. Hassle mag manage ng tao esp during performance evaluation I handled people before but they were not directly under me so iba nag proproblema sa kanila. Perfect nga talaga yung previous job ko

I agree on the persuasion and communication though. When I want something I will do everything to get it. I remember when they phased out multiple computers in our company and I emailed the COO and made a case for myself (which my German boss supported)
