    WEb Ghost et al......

Actually I have seen many genset conversions for LPG using the usual LPG tank for burners.....mainly american at mura naman less than US$150.

I also spoke of an Indian company who has the equipment for motorcycle conversions at 11T pesos lang. They make a conversion for single cylinder Briggs & Stratton less than 6T pesos lang.

If anyone is interested just let me know, I can dig up the links and references for you, US and India.

I haven't made a Cost Benefit study yet pero most mobile campers in the US use LPG for their gensets since they already have an LPG tank for the lights, cooker and the even the refrigerator in some cases.

    cheers,

    steve

Dapat pwede same principle naman with a car engine. Sulit kaya? Assuming 20,000 ang conversion, do you use your generator enough to recover your cost? Pero, kung ordinary kitchen lpg tank ang gamit, baka mas mura ang conversion.

The LPG genset I saw had a small kitchen LPG tank as it's source.

BTW, you don't need to use a car sized LPG conversion kit... one make for a motorbike or even a home made nozzle with regulator would be enough since the genset runs at a constant speed.

Would it be cost effective? Comparing the cost of fuel against the price of electricity?

The guys who converted my car says they had a motorcycle conversion kit available from Aldessa. Aside from them, Total might also have kasi they convert tricycles.

I think you really need a kitchen-type LPG tank or something a little like it, not like the ones in the cars. Can you imagine bringing a genset to the nearest LPG station to refill?

Isang point din na raise ko yan when I was discussing this with someone else - I told him mukhang gago naman ako kung daladala ko yung genset para magparefill.

Next question - why is LPG for vehicles cheaper per kg than kitchen type LPG?

I think it's tax... or lack of it to promote its wide use. Also less distribution costs and volume consumption. Example, a kitchen size LPG tank is used up in 1 month while a car (which would have twice the capacity of a kitchen tank) would be empty in a week.

I have seen a CRV with LPG conversion done to it ... the tank is positioned at the back area. The owner just had a hard covering fabricated to go on top of it.
