no offense meant ha pero napapansin ko sa mga mababagal magmaneho (sa city not on highway) : Most of them drive A/T. Nagtitipid yata sa gas. Open road pero ang speed nasa less than 50kph.

remember, kahit A/T may clutch. kapag nakababad sa "D" ang gear mo sa A/T while in traffic, you know hehe. kung M/T naman, kung clutch driver ka, you know na rin hehe.

Not true.

    oj88,
yes tell them. this is another area a lot of people have the wrong myth. they can go to www.howstuffworks.com on this and hopefully they will get educated and understand.

It depends on the driver.

5 years and almost 100.000 kms na tinakbo ng trooper 4jx1 ko but until now wala paring tranny issues.

Not even my friends advie (M/T) can beat mine at stand still.

Pansin ko rin, you will know that its an A/T kapag nag full stop sya tapos umilaw ung tail light for a couple of second tapos mawawala tapos aabante na...

kalokohan...doing 50kph will never consume less than car cruising at 80-120kph with engine speed running only at 1500-2000rpm..

xty ko runs 100kph at 1800rpm...pero most of the time napapapisil ng madiin sa throttle di ko namamalayan 180-200kph na, lalo na kung napapasunod sa mabilis...si wifey lang nagpapaalala sa akin...hay (downside of having the gauge cluster in the middle)

in europe, 2010 model cars with automatic transmissions, the engine stalls or stops running when you step on the brakes and the car comes to a complete stop to save on fuel, then automatically restarts once you release the brake pedal and step on the accelerator. this is not possible with cars equipped with M/T. some hybrid cars are the same, it has to be equipped with A/T and/or operate on the electric motor or in some torque demanding situations, the engine and the electric motor propel the car

Yup, it's more of driver attitude that dictates how fast or slow he/she drives, not the transmission type. I don't think dahil nagtitipid ng gas.

And I also agree that A/Ts, due to its design, has a more sluggish response during acceleration compared to a M/T car. The reason being that fluid coupling is initially used inside the torque converter up to a certain speed before the lock-up clutch is engaged. In contrast, during acceleration, M/Ts only uses a fraction of a second of clutch slippage before it can be fully engaged. Hence, the seemingly more peppy, burn-out-inducing response when driving an M/T.

At any rate, graduate na ako sa M/T... it's a "been there, done that" sort of deal. Now, it's my turn to take it easy and I definitely enjoy the more laid-back ride on an A/T. I should've done this a long time ago.
