April 19th, 2010 03:01 PM #411Its based on what your feet does. Lay off the throttle to shift down, Press it to shift up. What your feet does is probably different from what your friend's feet does.

Pepsi vs. Coke, white sauce vs. red sauce, Dell vs HP... :D Nobody wins in these types of arguments. Fun to watch, nevertheless.
Even though A/T does shift for you, modern ECM/PCM allows the driver to influence the shifting progression or characteristics. Whether it be in the way the gas pedal is depressed, or a mode button to tell the computer to either shift for economy or performance.
If I was into motorsports, manual tranny or DSG, hands down. For everything else, it's A/T. I'd like the advantage of having a free hand available for more important tasks with the lady passengers. :D

my friend, to fully appreciate A/T, one has to be frequently stuck in traffic...or be stuck driving a car/truck on full load up an incline.
and btw, even lame drivers have the right to drive; it's the reckless, abusive ones that are the real problem. i'm quite sure that is the general consensus B) :peace:
btw, i prefer M/T for as long as my knees can take it(so far so good)
