Depends on the car, really. Hirap ako makipaggitgitan using the Tribute, but have no problem with the Granvia and Santa Fe.

Nope... 2005 Accord * 103tkms and 2011 Santa Fe * 58tkms no transmission problems to date. 2006 Tribute and 2007 Santa Fe replaced engine and transmission supports at 67tkms and 74tkms respectively. 1997 Granvia replaced differential support bushing at 167tkms. That's it...
Among the AT cars we had, none of them had problems with their tranny. My 1997 Expedition in the US had 100k miles on it when I got it and I used it for another 50k miles. The 6th gen Accord was 195k km when we sold it while the 2009 City and Jazz were around 110k km.
Our old pickup had 300T+Km on it when we sold it. Still going strong. M/T you will most likely need to have the clutch lining replaced 2-3x in to get to that mileage.
2009 Sta. Fe. Approx 65t kms. Nabali yung input shaft. Very happy that Hyundai replaced it maski medyo out of warranty (missed pms). They used yung kanilang supplied atf which was by total kaso i think it was not up to recommended specs ng hyundai for the sta.fe.
A officemate has a 2010 montero gls. Inhibitor switch failure at 95t kms
Depende rin siguro sir sa gumagamit. Yung hilux sr5 ko more than 250k na natakbo. Wala pa napalitan sa tranny nya.

10 year old thread!
Our 1995 Galant vr6
Na overhaul automatic transmission 3 times within the span of 5 years it had 150k kms plus mileage when we sold it.
2003 isuzu crosswind xuv at sold at 110k kms mileage no problem with the tranny but the shifter cable had to be repaired. 1998 honda city currently has a mileage of 130k kms and no issue whatsoever

How much is the average difference in maintennance cost, let's say after 100k distance travelled for AT vs. MT? (Ex. for subcompacts?)
Also is the maintennance cost for CVT vs. AT comparable?
I am surprised. It was one of the reason I prefer an A/T na. I find it very easy makipag-gitgitan using an A/T than M/T. Most times before you can change gears nasingitan ka na. With an A/T, you just hold the car using the brake.
Hmm. Madali lang naman timplahin yung clutch especially if the car is yours and you've already gotten used to the clutch of your car. Changing geaes shouldn't be an issue as well. Lalo na if it's gitgitan sa traffic kasi you're normally on the first gear to begin with.
In my opinion, ATs are easier to use, but it cannot be denied that MTs are still way more fun to drive (wag lang pag traffic).
Dahil you control the clutch. So di nakakatakot.
