it all depends on what vehicle, who will drive it, the driving style, and the conditions...
it also depends on what kind of automatic you're talking about. If it's one of those modern and intelligent automatics, then good. But if it's one of those old automatics that dont know how to shift on time and are quite annoying to drive, so manual nalang...
if its a van for daily use, city driving, automatic... but then again if its so dumb, manual nalang...
if youre a busy office guy who is always stressed, automatic nalang...
if youre a girl, automatic nalang...
but if its a car just for the weekend and its one of those "driver" cars, then ill have a manual to be able to feel the car totally.
since i drive 90% of the time in Manila, i must say that driving a manual is a chore, its not funny coz of the traffic.
For SUVs, AT is a must esp if your just blingin
For compact SUV and below, still MT for me. One advatange is that I find it more precise to tailgate during slow creeping traffic.
As I drive in Metro Manila almost exclusively, the fun factor is irrelevant with MT. Bad road conditions, stop and go traffic, pedestrians everywhere, PUVs weaving left and right, U-Turn slots every few hundred meters on the fast lane... the list is endless.
MT is dead to me.
^Yeah! Manila traffic is inhumane. Good thing the NLEX is the escape from it all. I still prefer the M/T 'coz I feel safer at low speeds with all the control it gives. But I won't drive one along the whole stretch of EDSA. That simply sounds like a friggin' joke.
May mga friends ako natuto sa A/T. Di marunong sa M/T.
Meron ba ritong Tsikoteers na A/T lang alam i-drive?
I also have friends and relatives who can't drive with M/T. My friend learned driving on a van with A/T, and my cousin is scared of M/T. He drives a Mustang GT; A/T of course. Weird...
My wife's 3 cousins learned how to drive when they were already in the USA. All of them cannot drive M/T's.![]()
Kung baga sa kanila when they buy a car standard option na yung automatic (unlike dito standard option is manual) and pag bumili ka ng manual paminsan special order pa. Sa Europe naman total opposite...
basta ako, i still like using my stick.. its my plaything especially when driving...
heheh thats the advantage of DSG-equipped TDCi focus...
auto mode 95% of the time, otherwise, sa +/- mode hehehe
major disadvantage talaga ng stick-shift at kung :naughty2:
mukhang alam ko ang ibig mong sabihin AY, hahaha... :naughty2:
BTT:
i drive m/t pag weekdays dahil sa gamit namin pag pumapasok eh fx ni erpats. pag weekends, a/t naman ako dahil gamit ko naman ang pajero ko.
as to m/t vs a/t, both.... when i am in m/t mode, i feel i'm in control sa sasakyan ko kahit na ba fx lang yun. when i am in a/t mode, i feel very comfortable dahil wala na ko iniisip na clutch at ok lang matrapik.
malakas humatak ang m/t, comfortable dalhin ang a/t at may libreng hawak pa sa katabi ang a/t, hahaha...
