i read somewhere, that these coolants are fluorescent. if the appropriate (UV?) light is used, the leak, even the small ones, can be more easily seen.
is this true?
Not enough information.
Is the check engine light on when this happens? Is there a vacuum leak at the intake manifold?
Is the speedometer working?
Some GM cars have the speedo input to enable the cooling fan. Some, the radiator fans are pulse width modulated.
Any thing else not normal to the operation of the vehicle?
Tnx 4 d reply sir jodski.
thanks for the response mina_nuka
re: check engine light
no, it wasn't lit. At least not until the fan was directly connected to the battery so it may be driven to wizzard's then back home.
re: vacuum leak
it wasn't checked in the shop (servitek), though I did check the oil cap and dipstick for signs of gasket trouble but they're clean. No vapors coming out either or anything that indicates gases are leaking into the cooling system.
re: speedometer
yes, it's fine at least when i drove it from servitek to wizzard's...already hooked up to battery. I'll drive it around just to check again. is there a way to find out if it's pulse width modulated?
other than the aircon not working again, there was nothing else acting strangely. i suspected a/c compressor issues but wizzard's didn't find anything wrong with it. their mechanic said the ecu/pcm isn't closing the ground. they wanted to remove the computer box and have it "repaired" by "someone in banawe". i'd really like to do my homework first before agreeing to that. by the way i've got the diagrams from the hayne's manual however i must admit i'm a noob with that.
any info would help in solving this "mystery"
nga pala, hammerl suggested checking out the coolant temperature sensor, it's never been replaced ever so i got a new one and will have it installed
ilang years na bro? some toyotas really last long before that water pump fails or that thermostat. how does the used coolant loom like? malinis naman? if thw coolant is a premix-wala gaano rust.. some have rust kasi yun nga..distilled lng ang gamit... wala sya rust inhibitors..

The radiator fan of my Honda City VX 2014 is not working which caused my car to overheat 3 days ago. Sadly, my 3 year warranty just lapsed 4 months ago. Meaning, I would have to shoulde the cost. Badtrip!!
I live far from a Honda service center -- so I asked the nearest Shell gas station for an estimate. Per the mechanic, original Honda raditor fan would cost around ~P14T. But he said that I can instead buy a brand new Japan radiator (Denso) in Banawe for about P7K and they (Shell mechanic) can install it for P400 labor.
Any City onwers here experience with their radiator fan not working? What did you replace it with & how much.
Thanks in advance for the help.

Most Honda cars have the radiator fans switch normally open (N.O.) and closes when the threshold had been reached. To eliminate possibilities , unplug the radiator fans switch at the bottom of the radiator and jumper with a paper clip ( with the ignition switching the ON position). The fan should run at full speed,if not, check the rad fan relay or the fan motor. This time, unplug the relay and jumper (with a fused jumper wire)between the two larger female terminal of the relay block where you unplugged the relay. If the fan still won't run, the motor is probably bad.
Good afternoon, I am seeking assistance from you guys to solve the issue I'm experiencing with my Nissan Urvan model 2009 (UV express). Since the van is experiencing high pressure recently, we brought it to our mechanic, he then performs the following on consecutive days, 1) Removed the Thermostat but still there is high pressure; 2) replaced the water pump and fan blade with brand new ones but again still high pressure while running; 3) cleaned both the radiator and sub radiator but last night my driver called and told me again there is high pressure, he then turn off the engine check the radiator (still full and no water leakage). He restarted the car after a few minutes and it became normal until he finished his duties. Any ideas what other possible factors that causes the high pressure? thanks a lot.
It couldn't have "higher pressure". The radiator cap that relieves the built up hydrostatic pressure couldn't get stronger but the other way around. Maybe, what you're trying to say is that the temperature is higher.
Your rad cap is designed to open at 0.9 kg/sq.cm or roughly 13 psig.
If your situation is overheating, try bleeding your cooling system.
What are the signs of radiator hose replacement? Thanks!
