Apple pulls police-tracking app used in Hong Kong protests after consulting authorities - Reuters
Found it weird that China has spoken, Apple has spoken, even the developer has spoken. But not a word from the one who is (supposedly) truly affected -- the HK police.![]()
so now you're trying to sound more balanced after i pointed out (to everyone) your long history of heavy bias
for the pro-US anti China crowd, here's a video that will give you orgasms

Golden Week Riots
HK sees 55% dip in holiday touristsFrom Oct. 1 to 7, tourist arrivals from the Chinese mainland reached 671,952, a 55.8 percent dip compared with the same period last year, according to Hong Kong's Immigration Department.
The total passenger arrivals during the holiday were about 2.34 million, 31.9 percent less than that of last year.
The National Day holidays, also known as the Golden Week, is a peak season for the city's major business sectors, such as tourism, retail, catering and hotels. However, this year, the ongoing violence and vandalism, which caused a shutdown of the city's business and transportation system, have severely dented the tourist sentiment.
On the National Day, a mere 93,097 passengers arrived from the mainland, a 62.5 percent drop compared with last year. The violent protests also crushed out the city's annual fireworks display on Oct. 1.
According to the Travel Industry Council of Hong Kong, tour groups from the mainland fell to less than 20 per day during the Golden Week, while the last year's Golden Week witnessed about 100 to 200 a day.
Well, it's not that simple sir. Like I said, US intervention in HK would result in a hot war and neither countries can afford it YET. US is not f*cking stupid to just send troops to a city which belongs to China because the geopolitics of war could quickly turn against them. HK is China's domestic issue, US has no legal obligation to defend it unlike Taiwan.
Nations will only risk going to war if there's a direct threat against their security (e.g. invasion) or if they can afford it. Other than that, BUSINESS COMES FIRST before lofty ideals.
The only thing that US can do is intensify the trade war and along with its allies, issue some sanctions against China. In that process, they'd be effectively shooting themselves in the foot and China would rather bear those sanctions than give up HK.
A lot of countries would be contented not getting involved as long as China doesn't commit a gruesome massacre.
I may have not made it clear in my post kanina, when I say talk against, I mean against it's policy or talk bad about China or its leaders, but if they talk about corrupts officials, Beijing listens and investigate it immediately.

Don't get me wrong, sir, I am not advocating US intervention. I'm just making a point of observation. People like the ones in HK and elsewhere who feel they are at the edge and feeling powerless against the giant that is China are naturally looking for allies. Allies who they believe can stand up to China. Naturally that's the US.
I respect your viewpoint, sir, as I believe you have been living and working there for some time now. But then you get articles like these, and another viewpoint opens up (see below links & quotes). Can you absolutely, 100%, categorically tell me that this article is fake? That it is nothing but propaganda? That the writer is lying through her teeth? This article dates back to 2016, by the way --
I want you to understand the sense of fear that Chinese people feel every day | Nanfu Wang | Opinion | The Guardian
"Last December, one of China’s most prominent human rights lawyers, Pu Zhiqiang, was put on trial for “picking quarrels and provoking trouble,” a charge the Chinese government recently has brought upon hundreds of activists, human rights lawyers in particular, who have been fighting against rampant corruption and human rights abuses throughout the country."
"Three years ago, I would have watched these news reports with incredulity. Before I returned to China from New York in the summer of 2013 to make my film, Hooligan Sparrow, I had no idea to what lengths and in what absurd ways the Chinese government is willing to go to crush its perceived enemies. "
"I don’t think of myself as a fearful or paranoid person. But my experience making a documentary about human rights in China gave me a sense of fear that I think westerners have no frame of reference for. "
"We knew that we were being followed constantly, both by uniformed police and by plain-clothed secret police."
"In the scene above, I was speaking with a person who suggested to me that it was too dangerous to continue filming. He said that none of us knew when one would be arrested, and that even the room we were sitting in could be monitored electronically. "
"I hope they will understand more deeply the sense of fear that so many Chinese people feel every day: fear that at any moment, their lives could come crashing down simply for dreaming of a brighter future."
And this is an entry from Wikipedia just to know who the writer is --
Nanfu Wang - Wikipedia
"Hooligan Sparrow was Wang's first feature documentary. It tells the story of Chinese human rights activists fighting to bring accountability to government officials who ***ually assaulted several young girls. As Wang films the activists, she becomes the subject of harassment from state actors responding to Wang's efforts to document the work of the activists. "
That's just dandy sir. Evade the point even though you're the one who said the ARTICLE is biased, and I quote:
"probably another politically biased article from Western media... that Apple is afraid of China
to balance things out here's why Apple removed the app"
And when I pointed out that the article seems "balanced", you shift the discussion to what you perceive my personality to be. That I am biased, that I am trying my darn best to appear "balanced" -- all those labels again. From the article to my personality. Prollly easier for you to discuss things that way -- shift the discussion and make things personal. Not my cup of tea, though. So, bye for now.
We are all entitled to our political persuasion
Hongkong is burning for a reason..communist china betrayed them with a promise of autonomy which isn't true
Hongkong will get over this turmoil with a sting in the butt
While china will never be ONE..there will always be the communist and democratic side of china
