In case of SCTEX, I think 100kph is too slow and it very easy to fall asleep. Na experienced ko na yan minsan. Bigla na lang ako inantok on my way back to Manila. Nagising na lang ako running on the shoulder. During that time, there was almost no traffic..

But in case of Cavitex, 100kph is just enough. Driving more than that is quite risky. I noticed the road banking(Cavite bound curve) of the hi-way is not right and the road surface is not smooth.

The difference is not the quality of the road but more of the length of the highway. Cavitex is only a short length so falling asleep is not as big of a problem as the sheer length of the SCTEX.

Paano nga ba naging expressway ang Cavitex? Kung susobrahan ang mag kwento, halos di ka pa nakapagshift ng gear, nasa dulo ka na. Sobrang mahal pa ng toll fee.

I think part of the (higher) cost is the construction over water.

Yeah... one sure way to fall asleep is to try driving at 80-100kph on a wide open NLEX and SCTEX. :Needsleeep:

I rember before that NLEX Toll fees seemed so high when they first implemented it as back then, the P200+ charge from end to end seemed so wow... now it's much cheaper as compared to SLEX and CAVITEX if you look at the distance travelled.

Yeah, Cavitex would be pricey as constructing it on water and swamplands carries a hefty price tag just as well.

I'll be going to Zambales tomorrow, so I'll be passing both NLEX and SCTEX.

How're the speed radars along these highways? Any tips on how to avoid getting tagged in case I go above the speed limit?

I don't have a radar sensor so I'll have to rely on my eyes alone. I'd appreciate if you could point out where the white pickups usually hang out

Pwede ka naman magpatakbo hanggang 120 sa SCTEX pero wag masyado. Tsaka about 3 weeks ago eh medyo ginagawa ilang portions ng SCTEX papuntang Subic.

Thanks. Try ko nalang magstay below 120 kung kaya. And agahan ko nalang umalis

Last SLEX ko though, 140-160 wala naman nanghuhuli. Came from Fuego via Sta. Rosa. But I think they're more stringent up north.

Many months ago I encountered a speed radar operator hiding in the middle grassy area along NLEX. He was sitting between the metal crash barriers so can barely see him until you are almost there beside him. The only reason I spotted him ahead of time was the radar alert I got from my V1. Even then, the operator was kinda crafty, keeping the radar OFF until the last few seconds to measure the passing car's speed.

Generally if its half-dark dark outside, the radar's camera will not be sensitive enough to capture your plate number.
