^^^ as you(Sir GH) mentioned the tripod mount speed cam is like an old video cam in size, usually the power supply is connected to a car battery also seen behind the unit. thanks for the news feed i'll be reading it after this post and yes the fixed type is in metal box w/ 2 holes. usually colored neon orange w/ black stripes. it may just serve as a warning not to speed up or else......

got to traverse the nlex and sctex (to tarlac) last sunday on our way to baguio. seems walang nanghuhuli pa sa nlex (8am), i maintained my speed at an average of 120 kph with some burst of speed to 140-160 kph on a clear area. at the exit of nlex, there were no enforcers flagging cars.

after entering the sctex, as i was doing 120 kph, i noticed a white innova parked on the overpass just passed the clark/dmia exit with windows openned and covered by black cloth to shield the speed detector from the sun. got a little worried i might be stopped at the exit. but before me, there was this pickup that passed me in that area doing about 140 kph. another is a gen 2 starex doing also around 140-150 kph. as i have guessed, the pick up and the starex, together with a black GS and another sedan was flagged down by sctex enforcers for over speeding. luckily i got away with 120 kph.

i guess they caught the two overspeeding vehicles before me that they let me go.

Would anyone have info if the toll booths check time of entry and exit ? Can they check overspeeding by computing distance and time travelled ?

Sa overpass mismo nakapark yung SCTEX mobile? Akala ko sa paanan mismo ng overpass nagtatago hehe I always slow down when approaching overpasses or an inclined road when I take SCTEX.

yung sctex going to tarlac, i noticed sa overpass naka park yung white innova mobile. sa sctex going to subic, meron nasa overpass, meron din nasa blind spot sa shoulder or after the overpass.

sir the enforcers flag down speedsters right before the toll booths after they get the information of the speeding vehicles thru radio. having to compute the time in/out of a vehicle at the tollbooth is time consuming (if ever they do it) and holding on to the vehicle caught overspeeding will hold up the traffic on that toll booth. so this process is not reasonable imo.

In theory, they could check your speed via time between tollbooths but since the long lines to the tollbooth, it kinda negates that way of measurement, at least for holiday seasons. From what I heard on the news, only SLEX was proposing that but I didn't hear if they pushed through with it.

They change their locations but they do like overpasses because it gives them a better vantage point to spot speeders farther away. This gives them more than enough time to aim their radar gun to catch him.

kaya lang sir GH, kung mataas ang location nila like the overpass, do they still catch the front plate number if this is tilted downwards?

Yes they do. They don't wait for the car to reach the overpass to take the picture. The speedgun's camera has a zoom function so you can still be 250meters away and the picture will be clear enough to read your license plate and maybe even your smiling face as well.

But if you have a tilt-down plate holder, it is possible to avoid getting your license plate photographed IF the speedcam was on a high position (like overpass). BUT if the speedcam was positioned at road level, it would still see the plate number.

Sana, pero as per authorities advise, mabuti na rin yung maingat, you can run up to 120 kph in sctex and I think that's enough to see far ahead of you, and think also any coincidence that will happen to your car most esp. with your tires, paano kung sumabog ang gulong mo or ng kasabay mo at matulin ang takbo mo?

Saturday late morning yun. Takbo ay mostly nasa 110-160km/h. Hinahataw as much as possible given the traffic conditions. From A.Bonifacio tinakbo hanggang Marilao exit, wala namang nakitang nanghuhuli.

I think I'd get one if it really works

Nanghihiraman lang kasi sila. iilan lan speedgun nila. SCTEX, NLEX, SLEX, Macapagal, Commonwealth (startoll meron ba?), Skyway, me north & southbound or whatever bound pa yan. Hehe

Ang iba naman, "visual" ang approach, kapag obvious ka naman na over the limit huli ka pa rin - hanapan mo na lang ng evidence or challenge them kun sigurado kang hindi ka na speedgun. :p

Wala talagang radar on that stretch because that area is usually crowded with vehicles most of the time (where going beyond 100-120kph can be unsafe due to vehicle volume and number of trucks). Speeders on the northbound lane usually open it up between San Fernando and Angeles City so the radar vehicle usually stays in that area.

2500 pala ang huli nito.. tapos seminar pa.. buti nalang hindi pala ako nahuli last Jan 3 while bound to Subic sa SCTEX, nag 160kph ako dun sa isang mahabang stretch ng pababa dun then found an AUV parked beside, biglang slow down ako to 130kph.. buti at hindi ako hinuli(or tulog lang sila lol :D ) considering 100kph lang ang max pala.. then nung pauwi din.. dun sa same stretch nag180 naman kasabay ung starex na bago na ang tulin sobra parang di takot mamatay.. LOL
