Sorry naman! Nagtatanong lang naman ako ah. Hahaha!
if there is a speed limit, it is because that's what the government had established as a safe speed, not just for your safety, but for other motorists as well. speed limits are not the same all throughout, school districts, hospitals, parking lots and private driveways have their own. you are not expected to drive as if you were on the expressway while in a village, likewise, you are not expected to drive like grandma on the expressway. in inclement weather and at night when visibility is reduced, you have to drop your speed 25-50% of the posted speed limit, again, not just for you but for other motorists who drive just like you. when i was working for law enforcement, almost everytime there was an accident, it was usually driving faster than the road and weather conditions and usually were fatal. we just have to constantly remind ourselves, driving is a privilege, not a right and we are not the only ones on the road. the roads sometimes change from the last time you were on it, there could be a dead animal or construction going on. best is never to assume the road was the same and that the driving conditions change or your vehicle changes the way it handles or behaves
I went to Subic last Saturday as well - fantastic drive! There were just handful of cars, and there were long, straight stretches where it was just our car on the road - nobody ahead as far as the eye can see. I will admit to giving the car a bit of a go on these portions of the road...
drove up to Baguio last (3 day) weekend with our new Accent.. wanted to see how fast it can go.. (plus I had fun fiddling with the trip computer)
Surprisingly, there was not much traffic going up and coming down from Baguio.. I thought the 3 day weekend would mean more people would go out of town,
At Nlex, maxxed at 120 kph bec i was afraid to be caught overspeeding. Nlex End to End took me exactly 1 hour * 74 KPH. Wouldhave been faster but we got stuck for about 15-20 mins near the end.. seems a huge trailer overturned in an exit near Dau , causing delay. Otherwise I probably could have Averaged 90 kph.
At SCTEX to Tarlac, took me 23 mins * 97 KPH AVE.. again, wanted to push till 140 but EVERYONE i met was sticking to the speed limit or at least 120Sometimes I am behind someone at high speed and i find them slowing down when we reach an overpass... seems like they also think there is a radar there to tag us. So heck, if no one else is taking a chance, I wouldnt either.
Too bad I really wanted to go faster... but in retrospect, I figured 23 mins to reach Tarlac via SCTEX was not so bad. Heck, stopover breaks can be longer than that, I'd figure i'd only save 5-10 mins if I went any faster..
BTW, both end of NLEX and SCTEX I didnt notice any cars being apprehended for speeding... either no one was speeding at that time or no one was monitoring? Its hard to say I guess
How about those who travel below the minimum speed? Have they ever apprehended those?
on what violation sir...under-speeding hehehe
btw, i'm a frequent nlex & sctex user almost weekly and based on my experience bad weather and midnight hour is the best time to make a trip that is if you want to test drive your (brand new) vehicle to the max going fast then slows down a bit on every bridge just to make sure...haven't caught or apprehended during this hours, try mo...masarap eh...
if the driver continually moves his vehicle too slow, he should move to the right lane. if there is no passing lane, he should look for the next pocket or shoulder to pull over and allow the vehicles behind him to pass. otherwise, the violation is impeding traffic. imagine behind a piece of heavy equipment on the highway and it is moving too slow.
eLoW GuYz...

i have never been cited for speeding yet. i normally go at 140 kph at nlex (mas strikto sila and also more traffic there) and 160 kph at sctex, overtaking the nlex and sctex patrol cars without slowing down and i had never been cited for speeding. basta gawin mo lang in a safe manner di ka nila huhulihin. pag overspeeding ka make sure you are not weaving in and out or making "hail mary passes". i have seen cars stopped at the toll gates by the nlex and sctex traffic enforcers and those were cars that were driving haphazardly. I think someone reported them, siguro may na-cut ng alanganin kaya nireport o talaga namang parang kitikiti kung magmaneho kaya napansin. me thinks as long as you do your fast driving without endangering other motorists then they will not give you a speeding ticket.
4 weeks ago i was at sctex going to sbma at 6:30 in the morning doing my usual 160 kph. then meron ako nakita sa rear view mirror ko about 2 km back going really fast. "cayenne ba yun?" true enough it was a cayenne, it overtook me like i was parked hahaha! it must have been doing close to its top speed (240kph?). it went pass me so quickly i did not even had time to read the plate number!

As per the speed limit na 100kph, 120 ang alam kong parang margin from speeding. More than that may huli na.
Pag alangan ka at baka may abangers sayo, take dau paexit at huwag sa dulo if pa north or bocaue taas ka pag pa south.
langya palakihan ng fonts ah......
just stay w/ the speed limit. di ka na nahuli, safe ka pa.
Thank you very much for the reply GuYz huh...
*YeBo: Thanks for the trip...I'll do that as well
I wanna drive fast pero ayoko naman yung papalit-palit ng linya and I still do the proper lane changing procedure...Yun nga lang talaga boring masyado yung 100Kph...

You can buy radar/laser detectors from online shops. Price will vary with detector model.
The speed patrols operate only in the daytime. Usually 8am onwards, from what I observed. So if you are early enough, like 6am, it is possible to run the length of NLEX/SCTEX at 160 to 220 kph without getting "tagged". I have done a few Manila to Subic runs that take only 1 hour.
Yung kay GH, nasa 14k. Haha.
On the NLEX-southbound, the speed patrols usually stay within the last 3 exits before the tollbooth, typically half hidden behind a bush so you will not spot them from a distance.
On the NLEX-northbound, I haven't yet found them during my runs.
On the SCTEX, they always change their position, but their regular spots are marked with tents on the side of the road. But typical places would be after a blind rise (example, hill or bridge) in the expressway so you will not spot them until it's too late. Sometimes they would also stay at the overhead "bridge" crossings for those heading to Tarlac.
You pay for the best...
But it will not be enough against the laser speed guns the MMDA is using along Commonwealth. The laser beam is too narrow to detect stray "emissions" from the gun. So if the laser warning of the detector goes off, the gun is already pointed at your car.
