Kung mala Tokyo lang sana public transportation ng Metro Manila. Nakakaiyak nung galing ako doon and umuwi ako dito.

Expect the EDSA-Quezon Avenue underpass traffic to get worse...
MMDA to implement new scheme on Quezon Avenue-EDSA intersection

The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) has announced that it will make changes to the traffic flow along the corner of EDSA and Quezon Avenue by removing the existing U-turn slots.
Based on research data, 4,000 vehicles use the U-turn slot at the intersection of EDSA and Quezon Avenue and this causes heavy traffic.
"Ang big adjustment na later on gagawin ay ang opening ng Quezon Avenue intersection," said MMDA Assistant General Manager for Operations Emerson Carlos.
[“The big adjustment we will implement is the opening of the Quezon Avenue intersection.”]
Traffic lights will be reinstalled to allow southbound and northbound vehicles from both sides of Quezon Avenue to turn left to EDSA.
All vehicles headed to Manila from the Quezon Memorial Circle and vice-versa will have to use the underpass and will not be allowed cross the Quezon Avenue and EDSA intersection.
"Ang diretso sa ilalim (Quezon Avenue-EDSA underpass). Aalisin ang diretso sa taas," said MMDA Traffic Engineering Center head Neomi Recio.
[“If you’re going straight (from Quezon Avenue to Manila) take the underpass. We will remove the ‘straight-through’ route at ground level.”]
According to the MMDA, they will need a few weeks to install the traffic lights and remove existing installations in order to implement the new traffic scheme.

Ang gulo din talaga.
Dati intersection with traffic lights.
Sinara
Ginawang uturn slots
Ngayon balik sa dati.
So how about coming from balintawak, may left turn kaya to QC Circle?
Coming from taft may left turn kaya to q ave going to welcome rotonda?

Kawawa nasa innermost, tendency if you can't beat them join them mentality na lahat.

They closed several U-Turn slots, imbes na ung iba dito na mag U-Turn sasabay pa dun sa iba sa next U-Turn edi sama sama or ipon ipon na.saka for me he he Traffic at Balintawak area is somewhat OK para ma control ung flow ng auto para di isang buhos sa remaining length ng edsa.
Then expect longer traffic along quezon avenue because the PUVs will load and unload passengers before they go to the underpass (across hi top).

the problem has already been stated years ago:
"the traffic system has not yet been invented, that will work against jeepneys and buses that refuse to move when their light turns green."
pwede yan, siguro tulad ng setup sa buendia cor. osmena, at dapat maging mas maayos pa kasi meron underpass ang sa q.ave compare sa buendia, wala.

By Coconuts Manila September 23, 2015 / 08:34 PHT
Part of the reason why Metro Manila traffic gets to bad is because some people just can't stay off the road.
"The Highway Patrol Group will soon crack down on motorists who violate traffic rules when they drop off or fetch students at La Salle Green Hills (LSGH)," reports Non Alquitran in The Philippine Star.
HPG head Chief Superintendent Arnold Gunnacao pointed out that motorists who fetch students from LSGH often occupy as many as three lanes of Ortigas Avenue. Thus, they cause traffic buildups that last several hours.
So, starting next week, parents and drivers will be limited to lining up near the gates of LSGH and one lane of Ortigas Avenue when they come to fetch the kids. Beyond the LSGH gates, the vehicles who idle on the road will be apprehended and given traffic tickets. The vehicles that are illegally parked in the vicinity of the school will be towed away.
Gunnacao added: "Our request to the parents is that if they reach the tail end of EDSA, please park at other areas because if they reached EDSA, we will be forced to apprehend them because they are causing (heavy) traffic."
Secretary Jose Rene Almendras has written a letter to LSGH officials and they promised to coordinate with the parents.

^In the age of cellphones and the like, it should be easier to fetch kids from the drop-off/pick-up points, or go around the block, park at a designated parking lot, and coordinate. I remember back in the day, we had to listen out for our car horn when we were fetched at school (pat-pataaaa-tat).
Re. HPG, they improved the EDSA - Santolan U-turn traffic flow in the morning rush hour. But the access roads to EDSA problem still persists.

Officers of the Philippine National Police's Highway Patrol Group (PNP-HPG) will arrest all pedicab or tricycle drivers caught on highways beginning on Monday in an attempt to reduce traffic in major thoroughfares.
HPG OIC PSSupt. Arnold Gunnacao explained on 24 Oras that pedicabs and tricycles have long been forbidden from going on the major roads, but that the rule could not always be enforced due to the small number of patrolling officers.
"Bawal talaga ang mga tricycle sa highway. Hindi lang ma-implement ng maayos kasi kunyari, MMDA, kung sila mag-i-implement, mas malaki yung grupo ng tricycle drivers and operators association. Kung dadalawa lang kayong MMDA, kukuyugin kayo," he said.
Gunnacao added that they are merely implementing rules in place, not willfully sabotaging tricycle and pedicab drivers' livelihoods.
"Hindi natin ho ipinagbabawal yung maghahanap-buhay sila. Pero sabi nga natin, ang paghahanap-buhay ay may kaniya-kaniyang lugar," he said.
The HPG banned illegal terminals along EDSA last week, though stray drivers still managed to slip past officers to ferry passengers from the highway.

Looking at my fuel consumption, seems like improvements continue if this was my basis. A few weeks back i was already hitting 7km/L in rush hour, now i'm reaching again the 9km/L range.
