Bro.,- read the manual again,- there is a segment/statement that you need to replace it every 40KKm when you use the vehicle in severe driving conditions (heavy traffic and high temperature - which is typical of MM traffic condition - cannot remember the exact temperature [number] written)....

Anyway,- it is your ride,- so your call....

Dun daw mag lalagay water pag flushing.

question po. first time to do this outside the casa, 80k na yung innova ko.

pwede na ba yung simple drain and refill, which i've read will use just 3L of ATF? or dapat dialysis talaga which will use around 8-9L of ATF?

any shops outside casa that can perform said dialysis (preferably near new manila/qc area)?

Really depends upon your willingness to spend. A dialysis exchange will always be better than drip and fill. However, the associated cost is not always commensurate to the benefits.

If your A/T isn't experiencing problems and the old ATF doesn't show any signs of abnormal wear, drip and fill should be enough at the prescribed PMS duration.

The same cannot be said if the transmission has been abused, neglected or has been contaminated/inundated. If that's the case, a dialysis would be preferred.

Equally important is to use the correct ATF. Better to stick with Toyota OEM.

I take it that you meant [you stated that this is the first time to do this outside the casa] that the casa has replaced your ATF during your 40KKm PMS with them.

You ask around first bro,- for the availability of an ATF dialysis machine from your gas station/local car shop.

Then, your call whether to drain and refill (about 3L, yes) or dialysis (about 10L), based on your budget and risk appetite. More importantly,- I suggest you buy the ATF from Toyota....[their manual nor their ATF carriers do not state what international standard their ATF is...]

    From what I gather...

1st Gen Innova uses Toyota ATF Type T-IV.

2nd Gen Innova uses Toyota ATF WS

If you can't find a Toyota OEM ATF, just look for a 3rd party ATF that is compatible with Type T-IV.

Just a quick Google.... Here's an excerpt from: Brand: Clearing up confusion over transmission fluid - StarTribune.com

The T-IV automatic transmission fluid meets industry specification JWS3309. Here are several automatic transmission fluids that are listed as suitable for T-IV applications: Valvoline MaxLife Dex/Merc ATF, Mobil 1 Synthetic ATF, Castrol Trans-Max Synthetic ATF, Quaker State Ultimate Synthetic Multi-vehicle ATF, Pennzoil Multi-Vehicle Automatic Transmission Fluid — to name just a few. Mobil ATF 3309 is a JWS3309-spec transmission fluid engineered for this application.
BUT, call me old fashioned but I will never use 3rd-party fluids (ATF, PSF), even if the bottle says it's 'suitable' or 'compatible'.

Also, Toyota ATF T-IV is NOT compatible with A/Ts spec'd for ATF WS and vice versa.

Am with you on that bro. I am too and will not purchase compatible ones. However, are these available locally?

When you state Gen2, are you referring to the current model? Or the one which came out in 2009?

If the latter, is there a change in the AT and so the requirement for a different ATF? Both are still 4 speed right?

yes sir. casa maintained up until 60k kms/3 years. since then, PMS has been done in a local shop, but all fluids and filters are still Toyota OEM which i buy from the casa. so first time coming up with the ATF change outside casa, but i'm not sure if dialysis is required, or drain and fill is ok. mine is daily driven with a mix of nlex and city traffic. i drive relatively fast, but don't think it would qualify as "abusive" driving.

if dialysis is required, then i wont mind spending extra rather than scrimping now and worrying about a huge AT repair bill later.

    Dialysis

    Exalta Banawe - 600 labor + 9L ATF
    Speedyfix - quoted me 11k
Toyota North Edsa - quoted me 6.9k

But I opted to do drain and refill only since my Innova only clocked 32k odo. 280 labor + 3L ATF.

Sumabit sa alambre while my mom backing up for parking. Backyard paint repair told na buong pinto daw ang kelangan pinturahan ulit and cost 4k all in na. Kung touch up lang mismo sana pwede na for 4k pero for the whole door eh wag na, sayang ang orig paint. Kung sa casa ito at ipasok sa imsurance, magkano kaya aabutin.

I believe there are only two generations of the Innova. The 2016 'all-new' model is the 2nd Gen.

    From what I've read, the 2nd Gen has a 6-speed A60 transmission while the 1st Gen uses a 4-speed A/T; A340E for Diesel, and A45DE for Gas.
