For no. 1. I let the engine to warm-up for 5 minutes.
For no. 3. I have a turbo timer installed in my innova, so if city driving only I set the timer for 1 minute.
For no. 4. For a long drive specially out of town i set timer for 5 minutes to let the turbo to cool down.
Hope it helps.
i drive off the garage a few seconds after i start my engine in the morning. i let my innova warm up while driving conservatively for the first few minutes, thru my neighborhood.
i turn off the engine the moment i reach my destination. of course, that would be after several minutes off the expressway, driving in the neighborhood.
..been doing this for 10 years.. i see no ill-effects.
the high revs upon starting and just before shutting down (to charge up the battery; generator at hindi alternator pa noon) was daily practice in the olden days... before the 70s...
anyone who does these today, probably learned to drive before the 70s, or has electrical problems!
revving when engine is still cold, tends to hasten engine wear, as the metal mating surfaces aren't properly lubricated yet...
revving prior to shutting off, is something learned when one's battery is already old and needs replacement, but owner still refuses or is un-able to do so... sounds like me.. many years ago..

I have question guys. Plan ko bumili ng 2nd hand na innova.
1."fuel consumption" . 2.0 vvti gas (136hp) vs 2.5 d4d diesel (102hp
No.2 question.
Really confuse kasi vvti have high hp while diesel have only 102hp.ang laki ng dipirensya.
No.3 question.
No4.queston.
Sa engine lifespan sinu mas tatagal vvti o d4d.same na pagaalaga at maintenance.
Pasensya na kung mejo mkumplikado tanong ko kasi gusto ko lang magkaidea at before buying a 2nd hand innova or a brandnew na basta pasok sa budget ko. Ok lang sakin kung vvti bilhin ko kasi hindi naman ako naghahabol sa price ng gas o diesel.i just want a clear answer na nakkapagconfuse sakin.
Thank you very much and .. Godbless![]()
Ask ko lang .. Another problem. Safe paba to? Or need na palita?magkano kaya aabutin.Kasi nextweek long distance biyahe ako.mapapalaban ulet si innova ko. Gas vvti matic.tnx
Wala na shaking sa manibela. Napuruhan sa bicol ung pinakamamahal kong innova.. Huhu..
Good day!
Our 2006 Innova just started to leak on the roof after a heavy downpour, on the driver' side corner where the windshield meets the roof panel. Nabasa yung headliner. I tried to remedy the problem using epoxy silicone sealant (translucent type) but the leak was still there after another rainshower. I tried uninstalling the A-pillar moulding pero wala ako makitang butas where the leak is coming from.
Any recommended sealant and/or DIY tip to solve this? TIA.
*innova2013 & *crosswind - thank you for the inputs.
so far wala naman rust sa concerned area, and the rubber seal seems to remain intact (walang crack).
1. my diesel MT does 10 km/li. at today's prices, that's 370 km per 1000 bucks fuel. my relative's vvti MT does 8 km/li. at today's prices, that's 200 km per 1000 bucks fuel.
2. diesels have more torque than gas. torque = pulling power. gas engines usually have higher top speed.
3. that's a tricky question, depending on who you are asking. gas proponents argue that diesels need more care than gas. i have a D4d. i haven't "cared" for it in ten years. only fuel, oil, shocks, battery.
4. most engines last a very looong time, if they are properly cared for.
good luck with your hunt.
I already had the EGR blocked. Main purpose ko lang naman is to keep the intake clean, Dunno kung placebo lang but halos di ko na ramdam yung lag sa throttle. The pipe was removed and thick aluminum blanking plates was installed, I think yung mga maninipis na kaya mag sandwich without removing the EGR pipe has a chance to fail
Next mod ko is to buy a cheap oil catch can and modify it - they do not work as intended daw. Maraming forums ang may posts about improving OCCs for not a lot of money (steel trap, baffles etc)
No Toyota casas near me will let me use my own oil, so pinagiisipan ko pa if I will continue casa PMS, around 9k na ako. Ideas?
