    That's good sir!

And your price is on the average considering that casa was asking for P3K for the same spare tire lock last year.

Nadiscourage tuloy ako kaya I bought motorcycle locks instead.

Better remove and inspect your spare tire. Two weeks ago, I heard a squeeking sound under my vehicle. Upon inspection, I found out na nanggagaling sa spare tire. When I removed the tire, there it was!! Two deep gashes on the alloy rims made by the mounting bolts of the tire lock assembly!!! Very annoying! I had to put two layers of rubber sheet to provide some cushion and protection.....

Thank you sir! - Will check kaagad.... buti na lang weekend tomorrow - have time to do it.

By the way, I asked how the spare tire is stolen. They said (Both the Toyota SA and the one who installed the tire lock), the air is taken out by removing the pin. Once fully deflated, the wheel will be loosely (slightly) hanging free and the thief can easily slide the bar into the middle of the magwheel. Takes about 3-5 minutes daw. Fyi

Sir, kayang-kayang putulin ng bolt cutter yang deterrent mo . I myself was victim, then with a large chain and padlock as locks. Now I have this Solex type lock. Giving me the peace of mind wherever I park the unit.

With the exception of those who are still having the stock steel rims like mine, don't bother. No scratches of sort against the Solex lock assembly. Just my 2 cents.

had the same experience after changing my tires with no wheel balancing done (di kasi gumagana yung balancing eqpt nung servitek shop at that time). after that had it balanced at balik ulit sa dati

Checked out how the solex spare tire lock works. This is what i found out.

The brackets will not cause any scratches as they are well within the brace as seen in the picture. However, because of the spare tire lock, the spare tire will not be centered. Looked for other means of attaching the rod but there are no other holes to put through (unless you want to drill one - which can be a source of rust in the future). Since the tire is not centered, the chain will not shoot directly in to the center hole and will instead be pinned against the mags - which will cause the scratches. Placed some rubber in between in the meantime to prevent the scratches. Think the solex kit is slightly mis-designed - Thinking of having it bent so that the wheel will be centered. Attached some pics so you can see.

Also, in the event of a flat tire, I suggest that you do not immediately return the spare tire underneath and just put it inside the car. The effort of returning the tire, especially with the tire lock was tedious.

Your lock is different from mine. I remember you mentioned buying yours outside while mine was bought from toyota. The casa supplied lock has a wrap-around bracket that attaches to the underside frame and two locking screws hold it in place. iyon ang maling design kasi it will definitely touch the rim if you tighten the spare tire in place. The lifting chain definitely goes to the center of the rim while the lock bolt goes to one of the stud holes. For those with steel rims, yes no worries dahil me hub cap and steel is harder than the alloy rims.

This is the Solex/ genuine Toyota spare tire lock sold in Toyota dealers. Notice the stainless steel rod is held by a tab which is attached to the frame. The steel rod is not centered since the part of the frame which it is attached to is not straight to begin with. So far, I haven't noticed any scratches on the rim.

No. Because while the spare tire is stowed in place, there is still a gap bet. the rim and the chain lifter mechanism. It is the rubber tire that will "kiss" , touch, stick onto the frame of the vehicle.

We have the same tire lock, but mine was installed at the right. I don't know if that was the reason but those two locknuts (at each side of the lock shaft) did scratched my rims. The rubber tire itself will touch the frame but is flexible enough and if you over tighten the chain harness, you may scratch the rims. The best way is to inspect your tires and put some rubber sheets for protection. The casa mechanic might have over tightened the spare tire in place.

I got mine from karplus makati, 4x4 yung brand.

    Replies will be appreciated. Salamat!
