June 21st, 2015 09:26 PM #81Yes sir its for overall maintenance na po. And it's 10 years old nrin. It had maintenance before but I don't think those parts had been replaced before. My friend used to help me out. He brings it to a mechanic for repair and repaint. My mistake was not getting involved so I didn't have any idea what has been replaced. I just give payment. Engine oil regularly changed. Kaya Lang naputulan po ako ng timing belt before I had it brought for its 100k maintenance sa casa sana. Well too late to regret. So I just wanna have it fixed. But since I've never spent this much before in car so I'm starting to find out how much really parts are. Sorry a typical clueless lady driver here..

I would have brought that to the casa also. I wonder why the engine needs an overhaul? Did the mechanic tell you why?
Before the timing belt broke, did you experience abnormal engine vibration? Excessive noise?

June 22nd, 2015 02:22 AM #83Yeah That was my mistake. I should have brought it to the casa. But since the bf of my friend has a mechanical shop I entrusted it to him coz he said it will cost me double in the casa. Anyways, before the timing belt broke, there's no noise or any problem with the car. At least none that I know of. It was running okay. Had the break pad changed early this year. It was due for change oil though. Supposedly to
bring to the casa for 100k maintenance/tune up or whatever you call it. But I got so busy so it got neglected.
Anyways, when the belt snapped which at that time I wasn't aware that it's the belt, I heard a tud under the car. I thought I just run into a stone or hit something. Then suddenly I engine seems dying and it was very hard to maneuver. I initially thought it was the battery that died coz the indicator in the dashboard lighted. Since dying battery happened to me already before, based on experience after resting the car, it should run a bit again. I was able to turn it on and drove it to its parking spot which is very near where the belt broke. The difference I noticed between my experience before on a dying battery and this one is, I could hardly turn my steering wheel. So when I got to the parking, I checked the hood and saw the broken rod. But like I've said I was very busy so I was able to have it checked and towed for repair is only after a month after my return. Which by that time oil has leaked already and damaged the other parts. So now here I am with a big bill and more to fix. I'm actually over the fact that I made the biggest stupid mistake in car maintenance. I've cried and banged my head in the wall for my stupidity already so no point beating myself down further. I just need help on sourcing the parts and some advise on it..

June 22nd, 2015 02:58 AM #84better buy the parts yourself. kuhanin mo lang yung list ng kailangan bilhin. pag yung shop kasi and mekaniko ang bumili, siguradong may mark up na presyo nun. kung sa bandang QC ka, toyorama sa banawe or kung south naman Cruiser parts sa sucat. Gant naman sa pasay. Im from south so kay cruiser ako bumibili ng piyesa ko. then labor na lang babayaran ko sa mekaniko.

June 22nd, 2015 03:01 AM #85pag bibili ka, palagi mo i pa quote presyo ng original toyota vs. replacement. kasi minsan may piyesa na hindi naman nagkakalayo ng presyo ng orig at replacement. basta pag kaya ng budget palaging orig siyempre. pag mahal replacement parts naman. they are still good din naman.

Re. need to replace right away:
2pcs Front shocks - KYB Brand
2pcs Rear shocks - KYB brand
2pcs Stab clamp bushing - Original
2 front and 2 rear brakes - Original (or Bendix)
2pcs Tie rod - 555
2pcs Rack end - 555
2 Front Wheel bearing - Koyo
2 Rear bearing - Koyo
Try calling Toyorama in Banawe or the other shops mentioned. For labor, you can try Wheelers Suspension Haus in the Banawe area also (along N. Roxas Street).Last edited by vinj; June 22nd, 2015 at 09:51 AM.

you posted on 2 different threads here is what i suggested on the other thread in case you haven't read it yet
Here is what i suggest you do.
The shock and suspension parts are not much of a humongous problem. Just have the engine done and drive away towards a Goodyear servitek. Then ask them to diagnose the parts you said have problems. This service is free btw.
Then tell them you have limited budget and will source the items then return to them for installation.
Buy these parts outside. LVC gives great prices sa suspension.
Shocks get kyb brand. Bushings get made in japan replacement parts. It should be way below the quote your given.
Noow return to servitek and have the items they suggested to replace. Have it aligned and go.
Lastly never go back to the talyer you went to.
Good luck. This is from an ex casa and goodyear high performance center service/parts manager

July 6th, 2015 01:58 AM #88Thank you so much sirs Saksidriver, Vinj and Jasonub. All your advices are very helpful. I truly appreciate your time and recommendations. Finally got my car with the supposed engine works and few other part replacements. It cost me 58k including labor of 13,500. 😭 I'm having it checked now by somebody else to see if the work done was good and if the parts used were really original. He also wondered if the engine really needed overhauling. Haven't got update. Will check on it tomorrow. Now for the shocks and the rest that still needs to be replaced, he'll assess them and give me quotation before proceeding on it. It should have been done this way. Quotation first. Tried asking for it from the first guy but he never gave it to me. Only got to see the actual cost of parts the day I got the car. Oh well. Lesson learned. Will include changing my tires and having the bumpers repainted. Any good brand for the tire? And good place for the repainting and detailing? Thank you in advance.
