I am confused about the hybrid's torque. Are you also getting the max torque of 200nm at only 5000+rpm?
Same with the 120+hp, at the similar range of the 1.6 engine?

Wouldnt the hybrid motor help giving the early bump at lower revs?

Yeah, the info out there is still lacking about how the torque and hp curves are for the hybrid.

But it also makes me wonder how fast the electric motor puts down the torque, is it also like other electric motors that it gives max torque or lots of it from the get-go? Then how is the CVT if it is not that "receptive" to a large amount of torque being introduced quickly? I know it isn't Jatco but Aisin, but shouldn't it have a similar behavior given that it is a CVT?

Based on what CNET's article regarding the new Corolla hybrid. The car is meant to be very fuel efficient.

Not much after a high top speed, just adequate torque at lower rpms.

The 1.6 can o ly achieve 153nm of torque at 5200rpm. So i am curious about the hybrid. Given that it has a max torque (combined) of 207nm.

Are we able to get around 120nm at close to 2000 to 2500rpm range for this? Since the main downside of the regular petrol (non turbo) for going up inclines is the lack of torque at lower rpm.

I was just wondering about regular use cases and not really drag racing it. Ü

It's a matter of preference. If you ask most people, they will be OK with a car with the performance of a Vios. The Altis, even with its old & trusty 1.6L NA engine, is even better compared to the Vios.

The electric motor on the Altis Hybrid is meant for to aide in attaining better fuel efficiency. If you want more torque at low RPMs, you better opt for a turbo petrol or turbo diesel car.

My brother has a 1.6 Altis 2009 model (wasn't a dual VVti yet) and I do not like how it performs. Never was able to try a dual VVti equivalent though so I have no idea how "different" it is.

Yes, its pretty standard. 11sec sa 1.6L ata, might be faster if manual transmission. 1.8L is slower. Strange. I think hybrid cars are still niche products.

Very niche, but only here in the Philippines because it's so expensive.

But me thinks that hybrids are the future, not EVs.

Civic 1.8 CVT goes around 10.5 secs from 0-100kph.

So yeah, it's still the old 1ZR-FE so still the same hehe.

Earlier leaks told it was the 1ZR-FAE (slightly more power).

Quickness is relative. To some that is quick already, much like how most PPVs perform. For some, that is boring. If you want a quicker Toyota for under 2M, get a Camry or a GT86.

Most compact and subcompact cars with NA engines are about the same in sprint performance. The Altis 2.0L is not that quick also. Mazda cars seem to be ahead of the pack for those with NA engines. If you want quick compact/subcompact car, opt for those with turbo engines.
