CVTs...they'll tell you it's good.....
They're counting on them born every minute who'd believe.[emoji848][emoji4]
Manufacturers would market their efficiency....They're actually cheaper to build & generate more income for dealerships thru more frequent periodic maintenance requirement & eventual failure. Win....for them! And as long as we have Toyotas, they'll make us believe it's WIN for us, too.[emoji13]

Hmm we have 2 CVTs and 1 conventional AT and di hamak na mas matipid yung CVT sa AT. The CVT is also much more responsive when "downshifting" or more accurately when adjusting gear ratios.
The AT feels more engaging (has a nice kick when it goes down from 4th to 2nd gear), but the CVT is far smoother.
My CVT has also survived 60k km and a lot of track days but isn't showing signs of wear.
CVTs are the future for mass market cars - cheap to build and ticks the boxes for most car buyers (smooth and efficient). Many CVT models are already over a decade old and are still working fine, wih failure rates not higher than your usual AT.

No arguments on the pluses. I really wish I could have your optimism, good sir....but having seen CVT failures turned me a centered realist. CVTs not only require more frequent & pricier maintenance, they remain non-rebuildable to date. This has kept me off the bandwagon as unlike many or most who can afford to periodically replace their fleet, cars here are forced to stay...long term.[emoji852]

Was hoping the new corolla is fast but...
2019 Toyota Corolla 2.0 petrol 0-100km/h & engine sound - YouTube
0-100 is at 9 seconds. Similar to the mazda 3 2.0.
Strangely the honda jazz 1.5 with manual transmission is faster than both these cars at 0-100.
the dynamic force series of engines are for fuel economy. Toyota achieved best in class FE without hybridization. if Toyota wanted to make the fastest compact. they could've done it. but thats against their philosophy
mukhang thailand pala units dito. same release dates ata..
New Toyota Corolla Altis set for Thailand debut in Aug
Well that's somewhat disappointing though not unexpected, knowing how TMP always overprices their products while removing so many of the important features available in other brands.
Still, I wouldn't mind getting one for the wifey to replace her aging love life Corolla. I just wish they would release the Hatch version locally too.![]()
if you compare it to Civic with the price range ng Civic (1.1M) you will really see na bitin features ng Altis V. sana wag nila ipantay sa presyo ng Civic dahil olats sila sa power features.
Ay, sayang chance na sana bumawi ng Toyota eh.
Ang pangit nung "Altis" version, parang Camry eh.
Miles better yung front ng US/Japan version. wtf Toyota.
Hopefully standard ang Toyota Safety Sense.

I like the us version more. Looks wise it is a keeper. Why is toyota maintaining 2 faces for the corolla?

Looks almost like a totally different model. I hate it when Toyota does that to it's secondary or even tertiary markets.
As if we don't deserve the better looking models. Or they will offer them on a 'By-Order' basis at a premium price, while in North America even the base model looks better.
