But, we don't have the testing for city yet done by any reviewer for city driving so I can't really complain much as they were all assumptions for that part.

I would also like to add, we need to (at least) put a price tag on Toyota Safety Sense to see how "different" the price is from the TOTL 1.6 Gas Altis. So it is 1.185million (no TSS) vs 1.580million (with TSS).

I'm honestly on the camp of wait and see for now, plus a test drive.

I'd like to see somewhat the extreme conditions we get here for city driving, average speed of around 11-12kph only to a high of 13kph average. What would also be the FC of the 1.6 vs the Hybrid in those stop and go conditions.

My brother owns the 1.6VVti altis and in those conditions, he can only get around 6km per liter max. Granted it is the non-Dual Vvti engine but I'm assuming it will be similar for the Dual VVti and not exceed 6.5km/l. What would the hybrid get in that regard, especially since it can regen in stop and go traffic? That would be an interesting discussion.
i think the hybrid will help the fc in city and not highway fc. my question is how long will that small battery last in traffic when its fully charged.

Best to ask local owners of the Prius. I don't even know one. That car is worth more than the Camry locally.

Factor the cost & warranty of the hybrid batt. Ph only gets 5yrs?[emoji37]The standard 8yr/160k km would've been more assuring.

Yung natipid mo sa gas, babawiin din ng presyo ng battery.

This was what caught my attention as well. I do hope the media/press bring this up repeatedly as I find it a bit unfair that Toyota PH gives the least coverage for something that needs to have a warranty of at least 8 years for some peace of mind as you did decide to trust in THEIR technology.

Toyota hybrid battery replacement cost guide (216 update)

Mahal ng battery. Hindi bababa ng $3k. Mabuti sana kung mura din ang hybrid model. I’d just stick with the cheaper 1.6L.

    Disposable car in short.
Just sell it before the battery goes kaput.

If cvt becomes rebuildable, then everyone might fully accept it.

The worse offender of them all is the builtin car electronics.

i prefer something that is matibay, that it won't need fixin' too often.

i used to drive a cvt.
in actual use, i do not see why it is desireable over the traditional AT.

Just saw 1.6 G mt in toyota showroom.

The front design looks okay to me as well as the rear. It looks leagues better than the previous gen, to me.

The sales rep said they'd even release a cheaper E trim but for now, the based model is the G trim.

I asked the rep about the front bumper 'accents'. I know they should be drls, but the sales rep said even the v trim wouldnt get the angled drls on the bumper.

60/40 rear seat fold is there and I have been looking for that for some cargo flexibility in a sedan. Dealers usually take that out for our market so it was a welcome inclusion.

The trunk's line slopes downward, so im not expecting much terms of storing boxes but for luggages, there is quite a lot of space as it is a deep trunk.

At the back seat, im 5'11 and i find there is only about an inch or two left between me and the headliner. Legroom/kneeroom is ample even with the driver's seat adjusted to my build.

Steering has tilt and telescopic adjustment as standard, made it easier to find a comfortable seating position.

What surprised me is the front passenger cabin, the dash on the passenger side actually juts out, reducing the kneeroom, unless you move your seat further back.

They also used dark colored materials (dash and seat fabric). It made the car feel smaller overall.

Was disappointed with the infotainment/display unit. It really is a downgraded 'local' (china) unit.

No test drive yet so i can't even compare it to my brothers altis.

Mother didn't like the design, dad couldn't care about it. Haha.

I personally appreciate the new exterior design.

Couldn't edit my previous post to add some additional things I forgot to mention.

    - The agent might have misspoke. There is already an E trim MT announced on launch, maybe he was specifically trying to say they have received an E Trim for their showroom.

    - The G (And I expected the E Trim as well) don't have Rear AC Vents. In place of the vents, there is now just a niche/depression in the back of the center console, I guess you could slot in a regular smartphone as I don't know what else you'd really put inside it since it is a narrow slot.

    - If comparing both cabin space for front passengers, rear passengers and trunk, I can still say the current Nissan Sylphy we have in our market still is more "generous". But this will change if they do launch the new model here in our shores as I have seen some reviews saying that there is less rear headroom and legroom. New Altis still has that 60:40 folding rear seat to increase the cargo capacity for longer items though making it more flexible. The longest I've been able to fit in the Sylphy is a 10ft rolled up rug/carpet since there is passthru for the rear armrest in the middle that connects to the trunk. That was fun. haha!

Yeah, most reviewers mention that protruding dash design for the passenger. Not only it looks bad, it also eats up precious space.

Para sa akin yang CVT CVT issue na yan, parang noong araw early 90s, noong unang lumabas yung mga front wheel drive, sabi ng mga tito ko, kesyo problematic, sirain, tinipid ng mga hapon, walang mekaniko marunong humawak blah blah blah...years later halos lahat front wheel drive na, wala na, kinain na ng sistema, no choice but to accept the reality. hehe

Yan ang typical Pinoy mentality. Same league sila ng mga mekanikong nagtatanggal ng thermostat kasi mainit sa Pilipinas, at pag tumirik ang EFI car, 'Computer box" agad ang conclusion without checking the other systems of the vehicle. Mas marunong pa sa mga engineer na nag disenyo sa mga auto natin

If you're pertaining dun sa CVT with a physical first gear, we did not get it locally. Only sa US and others.
