March 24th, 2017 10:16 PM #2221Pajero is not the same league of montero. But the 4x4 design and layout have the same or even advance on montero . Pajero 4x4 engine and technology has been a decade now. Besides the reality is will most of us will not use a 2 million worth of car in major trails. I rather buy 2nd hand car or cheaper suzuki jimny for this purpose. Im a dirt bike rider. I use a crf 250 which cost 300 k and i dont care about the broken flairings punctured radiator . Engine water flooding while river crossing to about 30 inch water with current. As long as it serves its purpose its ok. Sa montero i could use it as a rally car. Fast twisties maneuver. Yun mux ko na 4x2 with traction control pumitik or dumulas ang pwet duringsharp turn sa may lion at 70 kmh. But with montero i can make it at 80 kmh or even higher without traction lost. I use to do that on lancer evo 3 90 kmh at sharp curve.

Great point on the need for competition to avoid lackluster overpriced and underspec'd vehicles.
Ford doesn't have the brand equity to compete with Toyota, Isuzu fielded an antique, and the Montero is an ugly duckling. Mitsubishi has the best chance to topple Toyota (as they've done in the past) - if only the Montero looked better.

March 24th, 2017 10:39 PM #2224Syempre mitsubishi will show more on patag because most rival 4x4 cannot be use as rally car. Running more than 60 kmh on dry pave road or rough road. And if you are on a trail. It requires upgrades and driving lesson technicalities in what equipment are u using. And you will learn that either montero or fortuner will not be as capable as jimny suzuki because it has solid front axle. Thats why 70 's land cruser are still on demand because of its solid front axle and some still cost 900k. We at strada club that is hard core to trail may have to spend 300 k on top of the car for modification so are the hiluxs.

March 25th, 2017 12:20 AM #2225I choose montero because its fun to drive . Not because of its looks nor reliabilitiy. Mas pogi pa akong tignan sa ducati . Lalo na sa chicks hehe. About parts mas mura naman dihamak ang ppv. A bigbike maintenance and repair are way more expensive and parts are difficult to find some times i need to go in other country to buy the parts. And each minor semplang would cost the insurance at least 50 k. Rims ng bmw gs could cost a 100k pag nabingkong. So montero parts is not issue. In fact my mux consumable parts are bought in thailand. My mux has never been to casa. Its just a waste of money if you have. Know how on the mechanical parts. I am also a an engineer and mechanic. I modified and repair my motorcycle its my hobby. And motorcycle engine is more complicated than cars it runs at 13k to 15 k rpm. Producing 125 hp at mere 600cc. And failure would means death running at 260 to 300 kmh in just sub 30 seconds. I also have a full time mechanics that overhaul and maintain our companys trucks and service. And the funny thing is that when i claim warranty to hyundai they cant fix the engine when hot needs to start the key twice to start the engine. I was the one who solved the problem. I just dont trust casa except when i can see how they pms my cars . Had bad experience in them .it happen that they do the pms on the suzuki apv they forgot to tightened the drain plug. Yun tumagas sa nlex buti nalang nainform ng katabing car sa amin. Otherwise katok engine.
Fortuner is a pratical car. Reliable less maintenace good resale value .People bought it for practicality rather than enjoyability. Most of our peers who are bikers bought montero for their performance and price practicality. A full time 4wd will be safer that 4x2 in high speed cornering. And this cannot be done by fortuner turning at 70 to 80 kmh at sharp curved. I have tried it in mux with traction control pumalo yun likod hehe.

March 25th, 2017 04:35 AM #2227Though nag 145k nga ano from the previous 115k discount, pero I think that is Mitsu greed testing the market.
They need a non-VGT Montero style of the past to save them from the Fortuner domination.
I heard they released the GLX MT at 1.28M. So say
Introducing the Montero Sport GLX 2WD 6 MT - Mitsubishi Motors Philippines Corporation
http://mmpc.ph/wp-content/uploads/20...X-2WD-6-MT.jpg
May 100k discount. The GLS Standard might bottom out at 1.28M to follow the 100k difference between Mt and AT.
So wait wait lang kayo. Lean months are coming.

March 25th, 2017 07:59 AM #2228Ayun nga eh. I assume most people who bought monty are car savvy. They really know the technical advantages of monty to fort based on the specsheet. Yung marurunong magkalikot ng kotse. Problem is that hindi yun ang majority ng market ng PPVs. I think ang majority ng market ng ppv relies more on the looks, ease of maintenance, and brand equity. If fort continues to dominate the PPVS for the next 5 years magiging issue yang spare parts bec. Of the law of supply and demand. Katulad ng Chevrolet Cruze nawala na lang bigla sa kalsada.

March 25th, 2017 08:28 AM #2229Ano naman kakalikutin mo sa montero? Specs wise lamang lang sa electronic features sa loob montero. At the end of the day maintenance and reliability will count.
