the 90s crown looked so comfortable,
    i wanted one.
until a magazine posted its 4.5 km/li fuel appetite.
but i did get to ride it from time to time in hongkong.

    that one above?
the article must be addressed to dyed-in-the-wool automotive scholars.
damned if i know what it looks like.

every other popular car is now getting the suv treatment...

    heh heh.

My dad was issued a Crown 2.8L inline-six in the late 80s when he worked with a tobacco company. It was the first automatic car we experienced and it was quicker/faster than any other vehicle we had ridden before. It was the first time I rode in a car that easily did 140kmh.

The bad thing is that it was a station wagon. I get the butt jokes from my neighbors that we have a hearse in our driveway. Hahahaha

Funny thing is that when my dad left the company a few years later, his company sold the car to a funeral house.

Now that's what I call a versatile car.

We used to pretend ours was Ecto-1.

I see a lot more big SUVs like Chevys and Fords being used as a hearse these days.

Iyan siguro stigma ng wagon, kaya hindi siguro nauso dito.

Mga 70s at 80s Crown madalas ma convert sa Isuzu diesel para matipid.

If the Crown SUV does make it to our shores, who would be it’s likely target customer base? We do know that the RAV4 does not sell well against its competitors. Toyota also didn’t bother to bring its midsize Highlander SUV locally. Since the Crown has a gas engine and about the same size as the Highlander, it may not be sold locally.

ToyotaPH knows the local auto market too well. They wouldn’t bring a model that most Pinoys dare not own. For Pinoys with money, they would ask them to just buy a Lexus.

    yes,
i remember the toyota echo verso.

and at the other side of the spectrum,
    there lies the honda crv.

who can properly predict the finicky public's finicky choice tastes?

every other car manufacturer has its skeletons, and its surprise golden eggs.

Buyers of these cars don’t skimp on fuel and thus you can see more Explorers on the road. For its price, it is big, comfortable, and with powerful engines.

some folks might prefer the so-called toyota reputation of being boringly reliable.

When I hear Crown it brings back memories of cabs in Japan and HK. I don't think I've seen the new Crown in the metal even in our travels.

These people buy the Land Cruiser for that reason. It is big, comfortable, reliable, and with a durable Diesel engine.

That "Crown" SUV is just the Chinese version of the Highlander XSE.

It's not coming here, much like every other Toyota US/CN SUV. No one's gonna buy it anyway unless they start making it in ASEAN.

If this launches in Thailand, then there will be a possibility.

With a 3.5L V6 gas engine, no way it’s going to be sold here. ToyotaPH even stopped selling the Camry 3.5L V6 long time ago.

If you want a Toyota car or SUV with a big gas engine, look to the models offered by Lexus. The IS350, ES350, and RX350 are really nice cars.
