2014 Toyota Wigo

OH WOW. Now, THAT is interesting. Can you re-confirm? The engine on my 2014 Wigo is the non-VVTi variant, 1KR-DE. They advertised it as 1KR-FE which it isn't. If you can confirm with a picture of the engine bay indicating the actual engine model, I would appreciate it greatly.

Same here. SA's were saying it does have VVTI "daw"... Walang markings sa engine as usual, pero a quick check sa internet sa engine eh meron daw dapat... Though, without it, ayos lang sakin

Yes, I've seen pictures of the 1KR-FE engine on the Aygo (the Wigo's European counterpart) too. I personally don't mind that mine isn't VVTi, but I'm excited to see the difference in fuel consumption between the non-VVTi and the VVTi versions of the same engine. If it's true that they're bringing in the Wigo with a 1KR-FE engine, then THAT is great news. That one's Euro4 compliant too, I read, so that's something. :D

I usually don't believe what the marketing professional says about tech specs :D Most of the time they're just reading off whatever they see on the spec sheet handed to them, and if it says it's VVTi even if the engine info on the car itself says otherwise, they won't know. Not their fault, of course.

There should be something like this somewhere in the engine bay. In the Wigo it's in the firewall.

parang yung sa HiAce na may 3.0L engine na (no major announcements; mahilig din ang Toyota PH sa quiet upgrades eh)

well, it remains to be seen. kung 1KR-DE pa rin yung makina, hindi pa siya VVT-i (as what bethaclaro said earlier in this thread).

I went to toyota san pablo just a few days back,then asked about the 2016 wigo,kasi my promo sila,at nasabi din ng SA sakin na nagtaas nga daw sila ng price from 556k sa a/t g variant to 561k dahil sa nagpalit sila ng engine to euro 4.pero sigurado na 1kr fe na yun.kung hindi ako nagkakamali.pero baka sales talk lang sya.though hindi ko na check ang engine bay.

That's the non-VVTi variant. It's possible that they modified it a bit to make it Euro4 compliant, which I personally would like to know more about as an owner of an older non-Euro4 Wigo. If they told you the unit you're getting is VVTi na, then I suggest you storm back to the dealership and demand they give you a unit with 1KR-FE instead of 1KR-DE. :D Or rebates. Or all of the accessories for the Wigo including the awesome TRD wheels.

What i know is 1kr-fe is vvti and euro 4 complaint engine.and 1kr-de is the non vvti at hindi pa sya euro 4 complaint.and when it comes sa torque mas malakas ang de kesa sa fe,correct me if i'm wrong. My sister just got approve from the bank.and she is also eyeing at the wigo.at sabi ng SA sa akin ay euro 4 complaint na daw ang wigo 2016 model ngayon.so siguro i'm thinkin na 1kr-fe na ang engine nya,pero hindi ko pa nakita ang engine bay,that will be my first thing to check pag nagpunta na kami sa dealer para kunin ang unit.

nacheck ko yung engine niya, and unfortunately, 1kr-de pa rin ang makina niya...false advertising indeed, pero wala na akong reklamo; ang mahalaga, my friend already got the unit, and happy.
