January 22nd, 2012 12:35 AM #775Just saw the jimny in the c5 casa.. looked really good, almost got it on the spot. Odd they only had a test drive for the old version... the test drive was really bumpy and dint accelerate decently. For the owners of the newer years like the silver one in this thread and the one in the video in the previous post, hows the fuel consumption and ride? im hoping that old 75tkm test drive is in no way representative of the newer model.
I like that it is solid!!! the hood alone is probably the same weight as the one on my gen 1 crv which is bigger. cant really believe it will do 11+km/ltr though in city. that test drive unit sounded like a diesel or it was on 4wd low, it seemed like it was on 2wd on the shifter...

That's the first casa i heard na may test drive unit for a Jimny - even if old model. Usually walang test drive units and mga casa.
I don't think it will do 11+km/ltr, based on old posts in this thread and other Jimny forums. It's not as fuel efficient as small cars like jazz or swift. But it can go thru potholes, mud and floods better than the normal sedans.

Just came back from a medical mission in Zambales. Again, had a chance to try the boss' private beach. This time in the Jimny. Where the CR-V was struggling with traction, the Jimny just powers through.
Thinking it's because of the solid axle suspension or the presence of a real transfer case or the Hankook Dynapro Mud Tires or a combination of all of them but the Jimny is loads more fun to drive than the CR-V. I can tackle the terrain with confidence. It's like riding in an airconditioned ATV.
No regrets getting rid of the Jazz and getting the Jimny.
***Better pics in the other cam, I think. Will try to upload those tomorrow***

February 5th, 2012 02:50 AM #778You think the hood needs to be that heavy or would lightening have a negative effect? what about having a beefier engine or possibly a turbo diesel...

The round trip from Quezon City to Zambales is around 400kms. Granting that the Jimny is not lightning fast, it can still cruise at 100kph (at 3000rpm) on the expressways. Yes, the Jazz that it replaced was faster and had better road manners. But I'm not missing that boring car. Maybe I'll need a practical 4 door one when I have a family or something but as of now this one fits the bill nicely.
The hood is part of the front crash structure, you can modify it at your own risk I guess. But its already ok for me as it is.
Fuel economy on this trip including off-roading is 10+kms/liter.
