February 15th, 2012 09:03 PM #801Here is an awesome video, they should demo this at the malls. The only thing that would make this better is if they stopped midway then started to climb again.

Yep. The matic is pretty robust. Easier to handle off road, too.
If that's a Taiwanese vid, then it's most probably an A/T unit since that is the majority they sell in Taiwan.

February 15th, 2012 10:46 PM #804Good thing about the matic is it is push button to change modes, not sure about the MT version. We were really considering getting this but the ride on the demo unit (the older version with 75tkm and not looking in the best condition) was really harsh and fuel economy is lower than what im looking for. I think it felt bumpier than an old vitara i tested several years ago.

All Jimny's 2005 onward use a push button 4wd sytem. We got the older 2003 model because I like having two levers on the floor.
Fuel economy and ride aren't that good but it's still a fun rig.

Pero I know someone, one car lang sya Jimny with 3 kids plus yaya. Siksikan sila sa Jimny pag weekend going to Malls. Gayan nakakabaliw ang Jimny. I bought mine 2008 Bnew Odometer reading is 25k palang. Just looking at my Jimny in my garage makes me smile bro. Kaya hindi ko ginagamit Matagtag at Malakas sa Gas hahaha. Go get one! February 16th, 2012 04:40 PM #808I guess that explains a lot, 2003 model pala pina test drive kasi may lever type drivetrain shifter yon. So im sure it does not do any justice to the newer versions... Seven years ought to be enough time for some refinements rights? I like seeing the jimny offroad videos. kaso mahal ata mag pa modify. They should actually offer the jimny with off-road/mud tires out of the casa.
Kamusta naman ang stock jimny sa pag akyat sa sidewalks and other off-roading like mud? are the stock wheels completely useless or good enough for mild off-roading?

I agree!
Actually, sa ospital dami na naka-Jimny. Pati yung mga pinaka-big time na consultants namin nag-switch over na. The Jimny is just like that ugly dog you see at the dog pound. It's so ugly yet you want to take it home. hehehe.
jaymd,
May inaalok sakin na 2003 model for Php210k. No details ako dun sa unit other than its a manual. Pwede mo try itext or call the seller. Just PM me.
LoBudget,
The Jimny is quite capable in stock form. It will easily beat most soft-roaders when it comes to the rough stuff. I've been driving them over center islands, side walks, farm roads, and using it to respond to emergencies etc. Just lower the tire pressure before driving on sand. Always exercise common sense when driving off road.
Project Auxiliary lamps. Knowing how $$$ the OEM lamps are, I decided to spring for the less expensive variety. DLAA also makes the plug and play lamps for popular cars like Hondas and Toyotas but they don't have a kit for the Jimny so I just got their universal model from HOT ROD in Banawe.
The switch is a surplus switch also from HOT ROD Banawe. They have a huge supply of surplus switches that control everything from defoggers to rear curtains. That's also where I buy switches for blinkers, sirens, and other emergency equipment.
So far it works though the aim is a bit too high. But it's ok with me since we can always adjust later on. I just don't like looking at the empty lamp slots. Now the face looks more 'complete'. hehe.
Less than Php2,000.00 for everything (I brought my own paint to the shop).
