Makes one want to buy a Jimny also. What's the best year model to buy when looking for used ones?
Mine is an 08 but I like the latest model because of the scope on the hood.

Can anyone describe the ride of the Jimny... what are the closest comparison (base on ride)...
Pick up truck? (from hilux to strada)
Daihatsu Feroza?
Jazz with 17" wheels?
1st gen fortuner?
LC 80? (with front solid axle)
I might bite the bullet and buy one for Urban use...
I used to own a vitara, so I have high praises for Suzuki... I know its a 4x4... so I dont expect much (in terms of ride)... but is it tolerable in the Urban setting?.... never had a vehicle with a very short wheelbase...
Swift is another option, but I just find the Jimny better looking ;-)
I havent driven those cars you mentioned except for the jazz but with stock wheels. The jimny is meant for rugged terrain so the suspensions are stiff. Expect a bumpy ride especially at the back. If you are after a comfortable urban ride, then I guess the jimny is not for you. If you have family with grown up children, the jimny is not advisable. But if you drive alone most of the time and love the feeling of driving a cute suv that can navigate the worst traffic in MM and can squeeze into the smallest available parking space, plus peace of mind when fording a flooded street (at the cost of a sedan), then give it a try.

This is the thing with the Suzuki Jimny, price is too close to the Ford Ecosport and Nissan Juke.
yes driving alone... wont be a family car... again, I have high praises with Suzuki (coming from a vitara)... so... I have compared with other brands... back seats wont be used... maybe used as jumper seats kung may pumilit sumabay ;-)
I work in makati and live in QC... rush hour going to work and going back... 8-5 type of job
I just want to know if its comfortable enough... as a daily urban car... on an extreme case... like if I can drive at 80Kph and feel safe enough (im not even asking for 100) ;-)
80kph should not be a problem. I ran it at 110kph on nlex and sctex and it is quite stable. I am sure the ecosports and the juke are more comfortable with more toys but not the 4wd option.

As an only car, the Jimny ranks high up there as one of the worst you can possibly buy.
As a second (coding) car, it's a workable compromise.
As a third, fourth or fifth, it's perfect.
It's a car with an "attitude". Bereft of any modern amenity by today's standards, it can take you anywhere, albeit with a bounce (lots of it), while happily spiting expectations and stereotypes.
Since I bought one a couple of months ago, it has completely taken over as the Saturday choice (and even steals some Sunday duties) while competing with more luxurious, comfortable, faster and modern cars in the household.
^Agree. The 2008 jimny is still preferred on Saturdays when I go out alone or with the wifey only. The 2016 Forester is for going to work (since wifey prefers the jimny for her weekly drive) or on Sundays with the kids for church and what not. There is an indescribable feeling of excitement and exhilaration when driving the jimny, albeit a sore back after more than an hour drive.
