August 6th, 2024 12:03 AM #61kayo pala yung thread creator!
heh heh.
sana nga ay compressor ang problem. pag pinalitan yan, ay ok na lahat.
are compressors for subaru expensive? or are they basically all the same, only differing in the mounting hardware?
kasi, kung pare-pareho lang, 15K lang dapat ang ma-gastos...
your original complaint,
mainit kung standstill, "lumalamig naman kapag gumagalaw",
might be freon loss. i once had it, traced to freon leak.
you might have to swallow the bullet.
baklas the heat exchangers (evaporator and condenser) and see if you have leaks,
and evil-eye the compressor. but i do not know who tests compressors for compression.
is it possible, the compressor is noisy because it has ran out of lubricating oil ("capella oil"), either because there was a leak, or because it was not replenished when the system was re-filled in the past, with freon? is it possible that the lack of oil has damaged the compressor beyond repair?
as an aside,
is your compressor one whose clutch can be adjusted by removing and adding washers? our true friends at the aircon shop can easily do this for practically free, in about a minute or two. after seeing them do it, i am confident, i can do it, too.
i suspect, marami nang na-biktima nang palit-compressor gang...Last edited by dr. d; August 6th, 2024 at 01:08 AM.

August 7th, 2024 12:15 PM #62Pinabaklas ko na yung ac system ngayon dito sa Pampanga. There is a big leak in the evaporator so that needs to be replaced. Their quote is 9K but I'm still looking for the parts myself. Is it best to stick with an original Subaru part for the evaporator? If there's an aftermarket part for this, what is the better brand?
There is also a hose that needs replacement because it's also leaking pala.

Installed Valeo Thailand on mine. Got the part from EEB Aire. You might be able to have it shipped to your location.

Can be. It should work better than the OEM Subaru that failed after a few years.
IIRC spent less than 20k for the evaporator replacement parts and labor.

August 7th, 2024 03:31 PM #66commercial muna.
when my innova's rear evaporator sprung a leak, i opted for the cheaper replacement part, selling for less than half oem. pues! hindi kumasya!
when my old sentra's evaporator sprung a leak, i (well, my representative) opted for the cheaper alternative. pues! the resulting cool was raw (hilaw!). so i had it replaced by original serpentine, which cost three times the cost of cheap alternative. that solved the problem.
good luck, po.

August 7th, 2024 03:39 PM #67It's P4500 in EEB Aire. I just ordered it and is on the way here now through Lalamove. That's what I thought, that aftermarket evaporators work better than the OEM Subaru because the stock evaporator on my car was already replaced by MI when my unit was still under warranty. And now it has a big leak again. That just tells me that their original part is not manufactured well.

I didn't want to deal with the inevitable compressor issue. My bro-in-law had to replace both evaporator and compressor on his Forester within a year. Unfortunately he had it done in the casa so prices were definitely up there.
The scheduled services like PMS and CVT costs I can live with. I just hate surprises.
Better to buy the similar-era clone starex 4x4 (not sure lang if local or imported but original lhd...
