I sometimes encounter this weird thing with the brakes. Whenever you do a cold start, and immediately shift to D to drive off, the brakes are almost nonexistent for the first few tries. Has anyone else ever experienced this?

Yun fuel loss upon casa check up, nangyayari yan kahit saang Subaru Casa. :D
Ang ginagawa ko, I check in the car when fuel empty light lights up. That way, wala silang makukuha sa akin.
Lagi na yang SOP.
Yang 36L of fuel mo, usually, naka bukas makina, then aircon habang diagnosis while the car is not running. OA yun 36L 136kms lng ang travel.
Rev up to 4k RPM pa yan. :D Pansin ko na yan, may Scan Gauge II ako sa car. Nakikita dun kung ano ginagawa nila.
I'm not saying Subaru lng ang gumagawa nyan. Mitsubishi Citimotors, ganun rin.
Pinabayad ko pa yun S.A. kasi na bawasan ako ng 1/2 tank. Eh di naman nagtest drive. Binigyan ako ng P500, else, magrereklamo na ako sa Management nun.
I wonder if pwede pagawa sa MI yung rattling sound since sa Alabang ko kinuha yung unit ko...
I think sir this is normal for Subaru cars. A few owners also posted about this few pages back, minsan daw mag jejerk or nudge forward or backward yung car pag nilagay mo sa D or R during a cold start. The service manager of Subaru Alabang explained to me why it does that... Na experience ko na rin dati na before starting my car, yung preno ko sobrang tigas (more than usual), na pag tapak ko sa preno ayaw umilaw ng green yung start button ko dahil sa tigas. So I really had to press it very hard bago lang umilaw tpos pinindot ko agad yung start button, tsaka lumuwang yung preno ng malaki.
I was thinking nga sir na baka habang sineservice yung kotse, naka on ang kotse at aircon, pero if they did that, dapat yung computer trip meter ko will show na mataas din ang FC consumption. However, malaki ang discrepancy between the computer and the mano mano computation. Ayaw ko namang mang husga, kaya hinayaan ko na lang at di ko na ni complain.
Hi! I actually created a thread about this a few months back (although my Forester is the 2012 model):
http://tsikot.com/forums/subaru-cars...tricals-91817/
I also upgraded my HU and changed speakers + added amplifier and rear camera. Didn't post pics though. Will see if I can still edit my post.
Hope this helps.
Seems like Flyaudio already has the OEM fit HU for our Forester. Anyone tried this na?

Hi stan, when i had my head unit done i met someone in the shop who used to have fly audio (his car was an SH turbo).
He said that sound quality wasn't that good daw so he changed his HU to Pioneer (i think he got the x4550 ata). He had some sound setup going on (eg. subs, after market speakers, amp) though not really the competition type. I think he had that setup even before he switched to Pioneer pa.
Incidentally, there's a Facebook page ata for flyaudio philippines.. You can check out their page din if you haven't seen it yet.

Hi Jef, thanks for the heads up. Yeah I think Flyaudio's just reselling China HUs so I wouldn't be expecting good audio quality from it. I like the OEM fit though, looks pretty nice.
How's your setup so far? Naayos mo na ba yung "mode" and "voice" buttons? Would be great to see pics of your setup![]()
Hey stan, yup the "mode" button worked na, turned out metra released a firmware upgrade last June 13 that would fix the mode functionality in Pioneer HUs.. I can use it as a power on /off button at the same time as well.
The only thing that's bothering me though is the "PTT" (push to talk) button. I can't get it to work pa din eh. But the on /off hook button works perfectly fine naman. I can make and end calls using that button. Yung PTT lang talaga (to trigger voice recognition) ang di ko mapagana  everything else works naman.
What's nice in Pioneer is that when it's connected to your phone via BT, yung buong phone directory as well as call logs can be accessed thru the HU na. Sa stock kasi natin i think we have to manually store numbers sa HU and will be able to call numbers recorded on the HU (correct me if I'm wrong hehe).
Not sure if flyaudio has the same functionalities though and if it can "mirror and connect/access certain phone apps (of iphone or Android) via cable through the screen display.
I'll post pics soon din. I haven't taken some pics of it pa kasi hehe also still waiting for autoline to have the OEM rear view camera na lang pati.. Hopefully in a couple of weeks meron na *fingers crossed*

+1 on Pioneer.
Maganda sound quality even w/ stock speakers. :D
Boom boom bass sya. Haha!
Jeff yung mga harness and connectors na you bought from the US available ba sa autoline?
Hi arman, wala eh.. We really have to order them from the states. Ang maganda dun sa harnesses halos plug and play na lahat. Wala na ngang splicing ginawa autoline. I think kahit di na pagawa sa shop kaya though free installation naman pag sa kanila binili yung HU so might as well sa kanila na hehe.
Update pala, i wrote to metra tech support and sabi nila di daw supported ng pioneer yung PTT or "speak" button. (That's the only button on the steering wheel that i can't get to work).
In one of the international subaru forums though, napagana nila yung PTT eh though yung model ng HU nya is AVIC-Z140BH. I think kasi this has specifically a voice command functionality (kaya am speculating napagana).
Just the same nag suggest na lang ako sa metra tech support na sana tignan nila yung specific Pioneer model dito sa Pinas and hopefully they can come up with a firmware update in the future para mapagana na lahat ng buttons. Hopefully nga mapagana yun in the future.

Where can you buy Forester 2.0i accessories like cargo tray, cargo step panel resin, rubber mats, etc.?
Hi arman, here are some pics. The subaru logo i just customized the wallpaper (this can be changed naman sa settings with any jpg file). That's what it looks like kahit naka off / standby sya:
Then if it's turned on naman, you can match the color of the illumination panel para terno hehe. This is what it looks like naman:

seems i cant change the head unit on my Subaru FXT because the LCD screen on top will not show the Song Info anymore.....
But it sounds good enough with the Harman speaker setup that comes stock with the car.
Hi Jeff, thanks for the pics, very nice. Buti gumana yung "mode" button, sucks that the PTT doesn't work though, that's one thing I use everyday kasi. Lalo na nowadays hindi mo makapa yung buttons ng phone dahil touch screen na. And yeah, you have to manually input the contact details and record a voice name for each and every number. Medyo hassle, it's nice that the Pioneer can just access automatically, malaking tulong yun. Grats on your setup, you planning on changing your speakers rin?
Yes sir the Harman HU actually sounds pretty good, but if you really want an LCD HU, I think ok lang mawala yung song info sa MFD kasi all of those info lalabas naman sa LCD HU mo. I actually prefer na ganon para yung MFD ko can show more important information related to your driving rather than the song name. So you get best of both worlds at the same time![]()
Thanks Stan, yah it's just a matter of firmware update lang dun sa "mode" button.. Siguro if you're a heavy user on calls, i suggest you find a HU that supports the PTT button of Metra. In general though i think Metra has done a really good job in creating an interface sa mga aftermarket HUs, best siguro that the features of the HUs we will buy would fit our requirements.
Not sure if you're still following subaruforester.org, Mike was able to have his PTT button working naman.. nga lang his HU unit is the Pioneer AVIC-Z140BH (not even sure if that model is available in Asia though). Kasi yung model na yun parang straight off ang key feature that they publish is that it has Voice Recognition so probably it's something na default anywhere sa tuner even without going into the phone mode. Maybe that's one thing that you need to look for in an aftermarket HU if you need all buttons to work. Parang wala sa Pioneer (at least dun sa PH website natin), maybe in other brands kaya?
In terms of accessing the PTT via screen naman, it shouldn't be that hard.. Medyo malaki naman yung phone icon on the upper right of the screen so after you press that, you just need to press again the "PTT" button on the screen so that it'll take in your voice command. So 2 presses on the screen vs 1 on the steering wheel (although iba pa din nga talaga ang convenience ng right at your fingertips na literally hehe)
Sa speakers naman, to be honest i'm quite satisfied with the sound after my HU change. May "oomph" sya considering stock speakers langand it's not even Harman Kardon at that. So siguro not in the near future pa muna
tago ko na lang yung budget for other stuff haha
Hope this helped!
Just read a review from ************
************ - Philippine Car News, Test Drives, and Prices: Review: 2013 Subaru Forester 2.0 i-L
To quote:
"And despite having its drivetrain shared with the Impreza and the XV, the larger and heavier (by 92 kilograms and 30 kilograms respectively),
2.0 i-L doesn’t seem fazed, still managing 11.36 km/L mixed fuel economy (8.62 km/L city, 18.52 km/L highway) figures."
Very high figures. Having my 2.0iL for almost two months and 2,600km to boot. Best I could do in highway driving is 12km/L while in pure city is only 7km/L.
Hi Jeff, haven't visited subaruforester.org for a while, will go check out Mike's post. When you said 2 presses of the PTT/Phone button sa Pioneer, you are pertaining to your model or model of Mike?
I think the AVIC-Z140BH model is more expensive and has a GPS feature if I'm not mistaken, not sure how much it would cost here. You got the 8550 model right?
Anyway, good to know the stock speakers of the 2.0i also sounds nice...malaking bagay din siguro that your HU is a pioneer now.
