Hi stan, yup i was referring to the 8550 pala (that needs 2 presses on the touch screen to activate the voice command) which i had installed.

And yeah the Z140BH does have GPS nga, pero not sure if we have that model here though.. Parang sa US market lang ata sya

I think the AVIC-Z140BH model is more expensive and has a GPS feature if I'm not mistaken, not sure how much it would cost here. You got the 8550 model right?

Anyway, good to know the stock speakers of the 2.0i also sounds nice...malaking bagay din siguro that your HU is a pioneer now.

Just to clarify on the bad stigma of China head units: everything's made in China. Even Pioneer and Alpine models.

Wala naman masama sa China-made head units.. but it's what's inside the counts. Remember that "OEM head units" are catering to a different market than that of Pioneer and Alpine who are dedicated car audio monsters.. I mean makers. Those who buy OEM head units cater to those who wants that OEM look while throwing in as much features as possible and still managing to keep the costs down. Pioneer and Alpine simply makes universal head units that may or may not look ugly when inside your vehicle thanks to its fitment

The advantage of aftermarket decks from Alpine and Pioneer is that they throw a full-range signal to your speakers while measuring relatively flat in the frequency response curve. OEM decks, on the otherhand, depends. However, most head units nowadays will have built-in signal processing for crossover and filtering duties.. while some more bulok units will have a wild frequency response curve with peaks and dips.

Stock head units have filters in them so that the customer won't end up frying the speaker by making it do something idiotic. Like trying to play 30hz test tones in their stock midbass drivers. The reason why most people say there's more "bass" when swapping is because most stock head units have around 100hz~ cutoff on the midbass while your Pioneer head unit will "free" this limitation. This makes sure you don't fry the speakers when you max the volume up or something.

^^ "made in china" is not the problem. "Designed in china", is. ;-)

Ah I see. If you only need 2 presses sa 8550, then I don't think it's bad at all. Besides, I think the buttons are large enough to press sa LCD screen.

Thanks for the info sir. I didn't mean naman na masama China HU, just that I wouldn't be expecting really good audio quality from them. There's a reason why they are cheap, and yet have lots of features that some high end branded HUs don't even have. In any case, I actually use a China HU on my Rav4, the OEM fit one, ordered it online from autodvdgps.com and am very happy with it. Best feature that I use everyday is I can connect my USB directly to the HU, and play movies and music without any hassle

I see sir. If you only need two presses for voice command on the 8550 then it's not bad at all. I think it has a rather large icon naman sa LCD and should be quite easy to use

Just confirmed from MI GH that they do accept aftermarket HU installation with less than 1Kphp service charge..
Im not sure though if their technicians can manage to have all the steering wheel functions work on a Flyaudio HU.

anyone of you notice that our spare tire is not the same as the ones fitted in our units? our spare tire is of a different size and has a mark "for temporary use only"

For those who have the 2013 XT turbo, hows your fuel consumption lately? for the sake of accuracy, lets use the onboard trip computer reading

purely hiway driving = 9.3L/100kms (based on 140kms travelled, at night around 10pm onwards)
mostly city driving = 14.5L/100kms (based on 1 full tank, around 300kms travelled)

i think the improvement comes from the "driving habit". i now know how to maximize the power through the CVT without gunning it. always in sport mode, rarely use paddle shift.

In the US it's called running tires. It's meant to be as temporary fix while you drive your car to the tire repair shop. They seldom give full size spare tire in the US.

After of two months of owning the 2.0(NA) forester, we suddenly find it a quite bumpy. My wife the one who started complaining. Checked on the tires and even lowered it to 30psi Front and 28 Psi Rear. She even insisted it's more bumpy that our 0'9 Fortuner. I checked on the tires and it's seems OK. No unusual or bumps on it. Anybody noticing this?

I've ridden at the back of the 2014 Fozzie and it does seem a bit more bouncy than the previous model. Do you notice it from the driver's seat as well?

Minimal only on the driver's seats. Mostly it's those from the back who complains the bounciness.

You can try the O-sullee or other polyurethane spring cushions to soften the ride. Had these installed on my Sorento and worked wonders on the ride. Sorento is pretty bouncy as well before that. I'm considering the Forester as a 2nd ride just don't know whether t go base or Totl.
