late bloomer din itong si martinez. 20 yrs old nung magsimula mag boxing.

    martinez is around 5'10".

don't get me wrong. i've followed pacman since his blow by blow days (6th or 7th prof fight) and i'm a big fan. but fighting martinez is biting more than he can chew. he can box and brawl. hits hard and hard to hit especially given pacman's height. imagine JMM but taller and bigger.

parang overstatement naman yung JMM but taller. martinez is a brawler, he is not a great counterpuncher like JMM, he has speed and has an awkward style which makes him successful.

imho, if they do a contracted weight of 150-152, pac would still come in below 147 to maintain his speed; martinez will not come in higher than 160 cause he will lose his speed. nde pa kasi nakakakalaban si martinez nung mga class nila Pacquiao at Mayweather, though mas maliit man itong mga ito, i bet martinez will have a hard time fighting " slick and skilled counterpunchers".

martinez is not hard to hit also and is not a KO artist.

only problem for Pac is that Martinez is also a lefty, mawawala edge ni pac sa right hook nya.

this is not a case of "a good big man always beat a good little man", cause pac is the "great little man"

sensya na, a lot has been said with Pac and was proven wrong... Barrera is too big and too skilled... Morales is too big and too skilled... Dela Hoya is too big and very much more powerful... Hatton is a strong boxer in his prime... Cotto is a strong skilled boxer that is more bigger than pac and is at the peak of his career.... Margo is too big and too powerful... masyado lang din malakas ang mind set ni pac to overcome the odds, eto malamang yung pinakaedge nya sa mga kalaban.....

Yup Pac will still come in at 147 anyway, so it's better maglaban sila ni Martinez at welterweight. No point defending that belt when it's outside Pac's natural fighting weight.

if pac is so great, why fight in catchweights??? enough of those bullshit catchweights.

152lbs is too low for martinez. and he'll come in higher than 160lbs come fight time. he is a middle weight champ not a junior middle catchweight champ like pacman.

if pacman wants to fight for 154lbs and 160lbs titles, he should allow his opponents to weigh in at the limits of those divisions. if he cannot do that, just stay in 147lbs or 140lbs division. there other meaningful fights out there.

if the price is right , everything's OK.

everybody wants to be in the ring with pacman for the money it will bring them. . .i can remember darchinyan last year stupidly suggesting a fight between him and manny

si maryweather lang ang ayaw kasi he can draw money himself

blame the opponents for agreeing with the terms laid out upon them... pwede namang tumanggi eh... the boxers agreed to it, promoters bargain for it, heck even the boxing commission sanctioned them and put up a belt even.

    martinez-williams 2
mayweather-jmm - wheree the great floyd came in overweight!!
Pernell Whitaker vs Julio Cesar Chavez
    Jimmy McLarnin vs Pancho Villa
Bernard Hopkins vs Oscar De La Hoya
    Roy Jones vs Felix Trinidad
    SRL-Hearns 2
    BHOP-Pavlik
    Bhop-Winky
    Gatti-Ward 1, 2, 3

heck even Henry Armstrong and Sugar Ray Robinson fought at catchweights.

anyway, i hate these catchweights too as it taints the glory of the bout for pac, much like what you are insinuating. but there are just conditions that are accepted by both parties and have enough time to prepare for the bout.... money is power i guess and that brings a lot in the negotiating table....

moreover, the purpose of catchweights is to prevent weight mismatches that can endanger the fighters, this in itself merits a lot.

Sabi dati ni Arum kay JMM labananan daw muna niya si Berto to prove that he can compete at higher weights before he challenges Pac.

did he mean what he said? if so, antindi ng kasinungalingan sa sarili ng tao na yan

    twice na silang naglaban:

apat na beses syang bumagsak. . .

yung unang laban, kaya lang sya nakadraw e dahil sa katangahan ng isang judge in scoring multiple knockdowns in the same round. . .

dun sa pangalawang laban e bumagsak na naman sya and 2 out of 3 judges said pacquiao won the fight. . .
