Too bad for the Pistons. They'll miss Big Ben's shot-blocking presence. I hope Joe D. can find a player to approximate what they'll miss in terms of rebounds and defensive hustle.
I think Joe Dumars thought Big Ben's shotblocking and rebounds is not really worth that much in conjunction with their recent loss to Miami. Now they want to spend on a player who is better suited to today's up tempo play so they need either:1 rebounding center who shoots FT better or 1 athletic scoring forward.
1M difference isnt that much for these guys, why bigben bolted out? hmmm
1. insert your reason
2. mid life crisis?
3. flip saunders
4. maybe he seeking 16M a year parang sa nba live...sayang if he were a free agent after the 04 season maybe the piston gave him that...but now and with a broken wrist i dont think so
Detroit's final offer was $48M, Chicago's offer was close to $60M, now thats 12 Million reasons why Big Ben bolted to Chicago. Now thats franchise player salary for a role player.... Chicago is rolling the dice.

Nuff said about Big Ben, will Allen Iverson be the marque FA to switch teams?
Celts are drooling over him. And AI is good for another 3 to 4 years. Enough time for Ainge to leave a Boston legacy?
Wow, this early Chandler has a taker already in NOK for PJ Brown and another guy.
Watch out for NOK....they're a tough read come 2006-07 with CP, BobJax, Peja, West and Chandler as starting five.
Can't imagine how bad detroit will be big ben was the heart and soul of that team. And if your saying he was the reason pistons lost to miami dont think so shed was the reason they lost thanks to haslem's awsome defense. Chicago migth just go to the east finals but not in the nba finals bec. of one simle think they lack exprience. Think pistons will lose in hte 1st or 2nd round of the playoffs if they dont get anybody like antonie walker or just an alonzo mourning type player would make a lot of difference
imho chicago was the team miami beat the hardest because of their style. with its current lineup they'll be harder to beat. if the deal with NOK for PJ Brown pushes thru, they'll have 2 veterans who will guide them all the way.
detroit lost big ben for nothing!?!
kid rock must be scratching his head right now
i totally agree. losing Ben is absolutely disastrous for the Pistons. he basically made that team run defensively and allowed the other Pistons to be more aggressive on the perimeter. also, without him the Pistons have no dominant rebounder and no one that can defend Shaq straight up. bye bye Pistons in playoffs.Originally Posted by jasprit
but am i the only one who doesn't like this too much for Chicago? nobody can score on that team. i thought a better idea for them would be to keep Chandler and give their max money to someone like AI or KG if they could swing a trade, or even Bonzi Wells. i'm not saying dynasty just yet, but maybe that's because i'm a Miami fan
...which brings me to the best news of the day: :jump:

MIAMI -- Dwyane Wade and the Miami Heat have reportedly agreed on a five-year contract extension, with the hope that a deal will be finalized before the MVP of the NBA Finals leaves for USA Basketball's summer training camp later this month.
The South Florida Sun-Sentinel reported on Tuesday that Wade's agent, Henry Thomas, said that he expects Wade to sign the extension, for five years and between $75 million and $85 million, on July 12.
^ melo and wade already signed up with their respective teams... but whats up with lebron?
oh, and Nazr has officially signed with the Pistons. he's not bad but it's like dating the girl next door after being dumped by Heidi Klum :waah:
This Nazr thing for the Pistons is what I'm talking about....Joe D is a genius or what? Losing Ben Wallace to Chicago is not a big loss because he already lost him during the playoffs to a wrist injury.....look at his free throws back then. I hope he recovers though....not unlike Ewing who eventually went down the drain after a wrist injury.
Now the Chicago has Big Ben, Chandler is on the block, they can't start two non-scorers. One very ver very very likely scenario is a trade with New Orleans for P.J. Brown and JR Smith. Chicago suddenly doesn't seem like a donut anymore. They are loaded, I mean loaded on the perimeter.Originally Posted by M54 Powered
Ewing's injury was serious, I think he had all his bodyweight on that wrist, he broked several bones and ruptured several tendons... he wasn't the same ever since.Originally Posted by Eismann
