They should allow private schools that are ready to open the classes. My daughter's school just posted on their website that they will start classes as planned on Aug 24.

Considering Italy had just 2 days that were reported 6,000 new cases... we(#22) are now just 2 places away replacing france(#20) and Germany(#19) in the number of cases world wide...

Aabot ba tayo sa 190k by end of August?

As a result, the total number of Covid cases would be in the vicinity of 190,000 cases by the end of August, according to Prof. Guido David of the UP Institute of Mathematics and a member of the UP Octa Research Team.

    DOH COVID-19 CASE BULLETIN #153

We are reporting 6,216 new cases for August 14, 2020. This brings the total cases to 153,660.

Top reporting regions were NCR with 3,848 (62%) cases, followed by CALABARZON (1,016 or 16%) and Region 3 (311 or 5%). Also noted are the 278 cases reported among Returning Overseas Filipinos (ROF). These were from the submission of 98 of the 103 confirming laboratories, which is relatively higher compared to previous days which explains the high number of reported cases.

Of these newly reported cases, 4,973 (80%) occurred within the recent 14 days (August 1-14, 2020). The top regions with cases in these recent two weeks were NCR (3,044 or 61%), CALABARZON (896 or 18%), and Region 3 (290 or 6%).

For NCR, 45% of new cases were from three cities. Laguna, Rizal, and Cavite remain the top three provinces in CALABARZON where new cases are reported.

A total of 1,038 new recoveries are reported bringing the total recoveries to 71,405 or 46% of cumulative cases. There were 16 additional deaths. Of the 16, eight (50%) occurred in August, four (25%) in July, three (19%) in April, and one (6%) in May. The eight deaths in August were reported from NCR (4), Region 5 (2), Region 7 (1), and Region 9 (1). Note that of the 90 cumulative deaths which occurred in August, 37 (41%) were from NCR.

Note that there were 81 duplicates that were removed from the total case count. Of these, four (4) recovered cases were removed. There's also one (1) recovered case found to be negative and was removed in total case count. We also updated the health status of 15 cases that were previously reported as recovered but after final validation, they were deaths (4) and active (11) cases.

a simple explanation could be due to our age structure

those below age 20 are not allowed to go out (also unlikely to get tested)

working age are more likely to get tested
